Cultural Affairs Bureau hosts a carnival in June to celebrate China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day
On the occasion of the “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) will host the “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day Carnival 2022” at the Mount Fortress Garden and the Macao Museum from 11 June (Saturday) for two consecutive days. During the period of the event, guided tours, workshops and thematic talks will be held and the Guia Lighthouse and the Macao Museum will be open to the public with free admission in a bid to enhance the public’s knowledge of Macao’s cultural heritage.

Consumer price index (CPI) for April 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for April 2022 (103.56) rose by 1.06% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to higher wages of domestic helpers, dearer charges for eating out and electricity, as well as increasing gasoline prices and airfares; however, the rise was partially offset by lower rentals for dwellings, reduced charges for telecommunication services and falling prices of pork. Among the various sections of goods and services, the price indices of Household Furnishings & Services and Transport grew by 11.02% and 7.64% year-on-year respectively, whereas the index of Communication fell by 10.34%. The CPI-A (103.32) and CPI-B (103.87) saw respective growth of 0.73% and 1.50% year-on-year.

Survey on manpower needs and wages for the 1st quarter of 2022 – Financial activities
The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released results of the Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages of Financial Activities for the first quarter of 2022. The Survey covers the Banking Sector, Other Financial Intermediation, Insurance and Activities Auxiliary to Financial Intermediation, including financial institutions supervised by the Monetary Authority of Macao, but excluding insurance agents and brokers not directly employed by insurance companies.

UM, Tsinghua University holds first student exchange programme to nurture professionals
The University of Macau (UM) and Tsinghua University launched their first student exchange programme at the beginning of this year. As part of the programme, seven outstanding undergraduate students from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University recently completed one semester at UM. According to them, UM’s courses are in line with the market trend. They have also improved their English language skills and accepted different challenges during their stay on campus..
