Results of survey on manpower needs and wages for the 2nd quarter 2022

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released results of the Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the second quarter of 2022. Survey coverage comprises Wholesale & Retail Trade; Transport, Storage & Communications; Security Activities and Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities; however, the self-employed are excluded. Following the resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic in mid-June 2022, a relatively large number of employees in some industries were placed on unpaid leave; as a result, average earnings of full-time employees in June this year generally decreased.


IFTM hosts Business Strategy Innovation Competition “Idea-cation @ IFTM 2022”

Idea-cation @ IFTM gathers talents to build a platform for innovation and creativity, with the aim of helping the tourism industry seek new business opportunities and find innovative and viable solutions. Following last year’s success, this second edition calls for community input on innovative recovery strategies amidst adversity which can help Macao’s local retail brands to transform or seize new opportunities. IAM removes vines in Guia Hill to maintain forests

Typhoons in recent years have caused serious damage to the mountain forests in Macao and accelerated the growth of vines that subsequently cover a large area of ​​mountain forests, affecting the normal growth of trees and making the natural regeneration of forest areas impossible. Therefore, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) carries out forest restoration work in sequence, including the recent work to remove Hypserpa nitida, kudzu vine, love-vine and invasive alien species such as railway creeper and bitter vine, as well as some dead trees and domestic waste. Preliminary work of tree planting, such as digging tree holes, backfilling with external soil and soil improvement, will be carried out depending on the conditions of the surrounding forest areas of Guia Hill after removing the vines.

The House of Macao Literature opens on Saturday disseminating the power of literature

In order to disseminate Macao’s literature, develop a literary centre and creative space with collection, showcase, exchange and research functions, the Macao SAR Government has established The House of Macao Literature in the hope of promoting local literary achievements and building an exchange platform in the writing field through a variety of exhibitions and activities, thus propelling cultural inheritance and innovative development. The House of Macao Literature will be inaugurated in the afternoon on 17 September and is open to the general public on the following day.
