In order to align with the “1+4” industrial layout of the Macao SAR Government, the “‘Sharing Opportunities, Building New Technologies’ Macao Science and Technology Investment Promotion Conference” was hosted by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) today (15), as the themed event of the host city of 9^th session of the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF). The event allowed about 150 representatives of scientific and technological enterprises or institutions in Macao, Hengqin and East China to exchange insights into issues regarding scientific and technological innovation.

In order to win the bid for more national-level and international-level MICE events with high quality to be held in Macao, and extend to Hengqin via the mode of “multi-venue event”, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) held the “ ‘Opportunities and Development’ – Macao MICE Collaboration Promotion Seminar & MICE Environment Experience Tour” on 12-16 June. Promotion and exchange sessions were held online and offline, with more than 400 business matching sessions facilitated between 27 Macao and Hengqin MICE enterprises and 168 mainland and overseas buyers. According to Macao enterprises, they have received enquiries regarding annual congress from the mainland enterprises, and also expressed the appreciation for the targeted and effective business matching arranged.

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today met with the Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr Tang Ping-keung, to exchange views on how to bolster cooperation between Macao and Hong Kong, especially in matters of personnel exchange, facilitation of cross-boundary movement, boundary checkpoint construction, and disaster response.

Two teams of students from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) won a second prize and a third prize in the Fifth National Structure Design Contest on Information Technology for College Students. The competition attracted 2,266 teams from 328 higher education institutions across China, and the UM teams are the only teams from Hong Kong and Macao to have won the prizes in the competition.

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced the list of incentive basic funds allocated in 2023. A total of 9,749 non-mandatory central provident fund’s account owners eligible for the first time are on the list.
