Gross domestic product for the 4th Quarter and the whole year of 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contracted by 4.4% year-on-year in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2021. External demand remained steady; exports of services edged down by 0.3% year-on-year, of which exports of gaming services fell by 14.4% while exports of other tourism services rose by 8.9%. Exports of goods increased by 7.7%. As regards domestic demand, gross fixed capital formation decreased by 8.7% year-on-year, whereas private consumption expenditure and government final consumption expenditure grew by 0.4% and 1.3% respectively.


CE to attend NPC opening session in Beijing

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will visit Beijing from 4 to 7 March to attend the opening of the fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing.


Monetary and financial statistics – January 2022

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply rebounded in January. Meanwhile, resident deposits increased from a month ago whereas loans to residents posted a decline.


Extension for gaming concessions and sub-concessions to run until 31 December 2022

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong, today said the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government had given notice to existing gaming concessionaires and sub-concessionaires regarding a proposed extension to their gaming rights. It would run until 31 December 2022, inclusive, to align wth the progress of revision to Law No. 16/2001 (“Legal Framework for the Operations of Casino Games of Fortune”).


Government steps up effort on vaccination promotion

The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ms Ao Ieong U, today said the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government had stepped up its effort to promote COVID-19 vaccination for children and elderly people.


IFTM holds Career Day Dozens of organisations offer job opportunities for IFTM graduating students

Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held 2022 Career Day on 3 March at IFTM Taipa Campus. 67 organisations (including 11 from Guangdong and Shanghai) from various sectors joined and exhibited at the event, providing employment opportunities and information, as well as the latest development of the sectors for IFTM graduating students. The Career Day aimed to provide a direct communication platform between students and employers, allowing students to know more about the current job market and maximising their chance of successful job application.

Wrapping film of product’s external packaging tests positive for novel coronavirus

A sample of the wrapping film of the external packaging of a batch of refrigerated milk apportioned and imported from Hong Kong has tested positive for the novel coronavirus nucleic acid during the stage of routine inspection and testing of imported food products by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM). IAM has immediately initiated the contingency plan and has taken measures such as tracing and investigation, re-testing, etc. All the products concerned have been sealed and destroyed, and have not entered the market.
