IFTM holds Career Day Dozens of organisations offer job opportunities for IFTM graduating students
Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held 2022 Career Day on 3 March at IFTM Taipa Campus. 67 organisations (including 11 from Guangdong and Shanghai) from various sectors joined and exhibited at the event, providing employment opportunities and information, as well as the latest development of the sectors for IFTM graduating students. The Career Day aimed to provide a direct communication platform between students and employers, allowing students to know more about the current job market and maximising their chance of successful job application.

Wrapping film of product’s external packaging tests positive for novel coronavirus
A sample of the wrapping film of the external packaging of a batch of refrigerated milk apportioned and imported from Hong Kong has tested positive for the novel coronavirus nucleic acid during the stage of routine inspection and testing of imported food products by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM). IAM has immediately initiated the contingency plan and has taken measures such as tracing and investigation, re-testing, etc. All the products concerned have been sealed and destroyed, and have not entered the market.

Cultural Affairs Bureau Online Book Shop launches special promotion on the purchase of the Review of Culture
The Review of Culture, published by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), is a publication aimed at promoting cultural exchanges between the East and the West, exploring the unique characteristics of Macao as well as the history of complementarity between Chinese and foreign cultures, and thus promoting academic exchanges between Macao and China and foreign countries. In order to promote the unique and rich history and culture of Macao, the Cultural Affairs Bureau Online Book Shop will offer a 50% and 10% discount on the purchase of the Review of Culture from 1 March.

CCAC’s Branch Office in Taipa Reopens
The CCAC’s Branch Office in Taipa reopens today (1st March) following the completion of an interior renovation. The Commissioner Against Corruption, Chan Tsz King, officiated at the reopening ceremony. The Branch Office will be re-positioned after renovation and is slated to be an integrity education base for young people and civic associations. It will also further strengthen communication with the residents in the district. It is hoped that the probity culture in the community of the islands will be strengthened.

Transport and communications statistics for January 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 248,321 as at end-January 2022, up by 1.4% year-on-year. Light automobiles (113,580) and heavy motorcycles (106,312) grew by 1.6% and 2.9% year-on-year respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in January decreased by 2.0% year-on-year to 1,252, with that of heavy motorcycles (604) dropping by 6.9%; besides, new registration of light automobiles fell by 27.2% to 425 (electric vehicles accounted for 10.4%), whereas that of heavy automobiles (213) jumped by 719.2% attributable to an increase of 200 public buses. Number of traffic accidents in January went down by 8.3% year-on-year to 1,099, with 363 persons injured.
