Maritime Museum closed from today

In response to the current outbreak of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus and to reinforce preventative measures, the Maritime Museum will be closed from today(19/06/2022), until further notice.


Zone-specific, multi-level targeted approach to epidemic prevention and control activated; Closure and control measures implemented on the living areas of confirmed case

Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) stated that, in view of the presence of a confirmed case in Macao yesterday (18 June), the Centre has swiftly adopted closure and control measures in accordance with the zone-specific, multi-level targeted approach to epidemic prevention and control.


The DSEDJ announced that, starting from today, all educational activities of tertiary education institutions and non-tertiary education schools are suspended

As the Macao Special Administrative Regionannounced an immediate state of prevention from 1:00 a.m. on 19 June 2022, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) announced that all educational activities in higher education institutions and non-tertiary education schools are required to be suspended from 19 June until further notice, so as to tie in with the epidemic prevention and control of the SAR Government. Activities such as tests, examinations and graduation ceremonies are postponed, competitions and exchange activities are cancelled or postponed, and schools are temporarily closed. All students are advised to reduce going out and cross-border students are advised to avoid returning to Macao. In addition, private supplementary education support centres and continuing education institutions are advised to be temporarily closed.


Nucleic acid test sample was found to be preliminary positive in Macao and immediate control measures have been taken

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced that preliminary positive nucleic acid test result was found in the community of Macao yesterday (18 June) and various control measures have been taken immediately. Residents are advised to pay close attention to official announcements, stay at home, avoid going out as much as possible, and take personal hygiene precautions.


Notice on Adjusting the Outbound Anti-epidemic Prevention and Control Measures at Various Ports Adjustment of Customs Clearance Arrangements at Various Ports as of 6:00 on June 19

According to the needs of anti-pandemic prevention and control measures, as well as the consensus of the Zhuhai-Macao Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, it is effective as of 6:00 on June 19, 2022, people leaving Macao from various ports must hold a valid certificate of negative nucleic acid test results within 24 hours for customs clearance;The current anti-pandemic prevention and control measures will be remained the same for those entering Macao at various ports. The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre urges all citizens and tourists shall avoid going out unless necessary, and stay at home as much as possible. Moreover, the public are advised to strictly implement the anti-pandemic prevention and control measures.



Declaration of entering a state of immediate prevention

According to the Dispatch of the Chief Executive and the assessment of the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, Macao is now at extremely high risk of suffering a community outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Macao, and to protect the life and property of citizens, pursuant to Article 8, Item 1 of Article 9, and Sub-item 7 of Item 1 of Article 11 of Law No. 11/2020 (Civil Protection Legal Regime), the Macao Special Administrative Region declares a state of immediate prevention as of 01:00 on 19 June 2022.



Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for April 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments dropped by 15.5% year-on-year in April 2022, with Western Restaurants and Chinese Restaurants recording respective fall of 24.0% and 23.9%. Meanwhile, sales of the interviewed retailers fell by 44.6% year-on-year in April; Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers (-59.0%), Department Stores (-58.2%), Adults' Clothing Retailers (-56.1%) and Cosmetics & Sanitary Articles Retailers (-51.1%) all posted a decline of over 50% in sales, while Supermarkets (+7.3%) registered an increase.


IAM urges the food sector to pay attention to ingredients of pre-packaged food, declare imported items truthfully and subject them to inspection

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has continuously monitored the food products sold on the market through routine surveillance system and inspection regime. In the first five months this year, a total of 34 cases involving imported food products which have not undergone sanitary inspection and tests in accordance with the law have been opened. A total 18 of the cases involved pre-packaged duck blood food products. IAM reminds the food sector that attention must be paid to the ingredients of food products, and any food product subject to compulsory testing and inspection must be declared truthfully and complete the inspection process.
