New Red and Yellow Code Zones set out as the 75th COVID-19 case was confirmed

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) stated that Macao has recorded the 75th COVID-19 case today (5 October). In order to strengthen prevention, new Red and Yellow Code Zones have been set up under the zone-specific, multi-level targeted approach to epidemic prevention and control.

Elderly home “Asilo Vila Madalena” is under closed-loop management
One of the staff from the elderly home “Asilo Vila Madalena” in Coloane has been classified as a close contact of the 74th Covid-19 case and is currently in quarantine under medical observation. The relevant person’s first nucleic acid test is negative. All 20 environmental samples taken in this elderly home were also negative. Due to the need of pandemic prevention and control, the whole elderly home “Asilo Vila Madalena” is under closed-loop management and health monitoring. Meanwhile several rounds of nucleic acid tests will be carried out to ensure the health of the elderly residents and the staff.

Nucleic acid ‘negative’ test result issued no more than 24 hours earlier to be required in order to leave Macao

Individuals wishing to enter any boundary crossing checkpoint building in Macao, intending to leave the city, will after the stroke of midnight on 6 October be required to present a nucleic acid test certificate – issued within 24 hours of intended departure – proving they are ‘negative’ for COVID-19 infection.
