UM, Cambridge to co-host forum to discuss sustainable development

The University of Macau (UM) and Clare Hall of the University of Cambridge will co-host the ‘Clare Hall, University of Cambridge – University of Macau Forum 2025’ on 31 March (Monday). The forum, themed ‘Interdisciplinary Approaches to Advancing Sustainable Development: Innovative Solutions to Global Challenges’, will bring together over 20 distinguished scholars from both universities to discuss critical global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. All are welcome to attend.


IAM won Merit Award for Design Excellence in Garden Attractions category at Hong Kong Flower Show

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) participated in the “Hong Kong Flower Show 2025” by invitation of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong. Macao Garden, IAM’s exhibit set up in the show venue with landscape and floral arrangements rich in characteristics of Macao, won the Merit Award for Design Excellence (Garden Attractions) awarded by the organiser, contributing to the promotion of Macao’s image and the exchange of garden landscaping techniques.



Transport and communications statistics for February 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 253,073 as at end-February 2025, up by 0.8% year-on-year. In February, cross-border vehicular traffic (783,129 trips) rose by 23.5% year-on-year, whereas passenger ferry trips (6,291 trips) and arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport (4,204 trips) dropped by 5.9% and 3.9% respectively. As at end-February, number of mobile phone subscribers (1,450,741) and internet subscribers (793,593) showed respective growth of 4.9% and 7.6% year-on-year.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for February 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that inbound package tour visitors totalled 145,000 in February 2025, an uplift of 3.8% year-on-year. Number of available guest rooms in hotel establishments decreased by 5.7% year-on-year to 44,000, while the average occupancy rate of guest rooms rose by 5.5 percentage points to 90.6%. The average length of stay of guests remained at 1.6 nights.
