January is Contribution Month, FSS Encourages the Use of Electronic Payment Channels
January is the Social Security System's contribution month for the fourth quarter of 2024. The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) provides a "Make the Social Security Fund’s Payments" service on the "Business & Associations Platform" and "Macao One Account", allowing employers and arbitrary system beneficiaries to make their payments online easily and conveniently.

MPU Open Day 2025 Showcases Excellence in Teaching and Research with Enthusiastic Response
Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held its 2025 Open Day today (January 4), themed “Science and Innovation at MPU, Empowering You to Achieve Excellence”. The event featured a variety of activities including degree programme presentations, thematic exhibitions, workshops, experiential activities, sharing sessions, admission counselling, campus tours, and an online and offline interview programme, MPU Chit-Chat. These activities showcased MPU's unique educational approach, programme offerings, teaching and research achievements, social services, and international collaborations. The Open Day attracted nearly 3,000 participants, including fresh high school graduates, professionals, parents, and students from both local and international communities, reflecting a highly positive response.

UM Open Day to be held in both Macao and Hengqin on 12 January
The University of Macau (UM) will hold the ‘Connecting Macao and Hengqin—UM Open Day 2025’ on 12 January (Sunday), from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Both the UM campus and the Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute will be open to the public. The Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs convened a meeting on 2 January to elect the Chairman and Vice Chairman of 2025-2026 through internal voting in accordance with the stipulations of Article 14 of Law no. 9/2018 “Establishment of Municipal Affairs Bureau”. After voting by the members, Hoi Lok Man is the Chairwoman of the Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs and Kou Ngon Fong is the Vice Chairman.

Monetary and financial statistics – November 2024
According to statistics released today (3 January) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply retreated in November. Meanwhile, resident deposits dropped slightly from a month ago whereas loans to residents remained stable.
