New Red and Yellow Code Zones set out as the 72nd COVID-19 case was confirmed

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) stated that Macao has recorded the 72nd COVID-19 case today (4 October). In order to strengthen prevention, new Red and Yellow Code Zones have been set up under the zone-specific, multi-level targeted approach to epidemic prevention and control.

The DSEDJ greatly assists cross-border students who have returned to Macao

After receiving emergency notification from the health authority of a suspicious positive sample of the nucleic acid test this morning, the DSEDJ immediately announced the suspension of classes today until further notice. Staff members of the DSEDJ immediately went to schools and various entry and exit points to assist cross-border students and their parents that need help. The DSEDJ appeals to the cross-border students and their parents to not to stay near the entry and exit points, urges them to return to their residence in Macao or temporarily stay with their relatives and friends. If they do not have a place to live in Macao, they can go back to school first and the school will take care of them and settle them down in strict accordance with the epidemic prevention guidelines.


Cancellation of Zhuhai-Macao cross-boundary arrangements originally to be effective from 12:00 noon today

In response to one positive case newly found in the nucleic acid testing, under the Zhuhai-Macao joint prevention and control mechanism, it is agreed that the cross-boundary arrangements in the Zhuhai and Macao ports which are to be effective from 12:00 noon today will be cancelled, the current anti-epidemic measures will be maintained.

In view of one suspected positive result in the NAT sampling last night (October 3), the Health Bureau is currently conducting repetitive testing, so as to make sure whether this is a positive case or is caused by environmental contamination. Laboratory test result will be released later today. Under the joint prevention and control mechanism between Zhuhai and Macao, It is agreed that the enforcement of new cross-boundary measures between Zhuhai and Macao at 12:00 noon today is suspended. Upon verification of the final result of the case concerned, the updated cross-boundary measures will be promptly announced. We call on passenger s who plan to cross the border today at noon not to go to the border checkpoints, and please stay tuned to the related information released by the Government.


Subsidized nursery facilities, non-residential and non-emergency social facilities are suspended until further notice

In light of recent updates caused by the new type of coronavirus and to ensure the safety and health of all service users – especially children and the elderly – and staff members, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) announces that the suspension of the operation of subsidized nursery facilites, non-residential and non-emergency social facilities in Macao is still in force, today, until further notice. However, residential homes, home care services, rehabus service for emergency support will remain open during this period. It is also recommended that all non-subsidized facilities cooperate and follow the above-mentioned epidemic prevention measures.


Notification from the Education and Youth Development Bureau

“Urgent News”: As an urgent notification has just been received from the health authorities that there is a suspicious positive sample waiting for re-testing and there is a certain risk in the community, according to the advice of the health authorities, the DSEDJ announces that arrangements for class resumption today are suspended until further notice. Schools are requested to make appropriate arrangements and inform parents. If students have arrived at the school and they are unable to go home on their own, schools are requested to adhere to the epidemic prevention guidelines to take appropriate care of them while they wait for their parents to pick them up.


Social Service Facilities Ready to Resume Operation

To assist social service facilities in strengthening the prevention and control of COVID-19 and preparing for the resumption of operation, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) has recently issued a number of guidelines on epidemic prevention to all social service facilities. All facilities are required to strictly implement the guidelines, especially to make proper contingency plan and arrangements in key areas such as environmental hygiene, staff management, facility operation, service arrangements and emergency response.


The 26th MIF, 2021MFE & 2021PLPEX Postponed

The 26th Macao International Trade and Investment (26th MIF), the Macao Franchise Expo 2021 (2021MFE) and the 2021 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2021PLPEX), organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), were originally scheduled to be held concurrently at The Venetian Macau from 21 to 23 October. Due to the epidemic prevention and control measures, exhibitors and buyers need time to prepare for the exhibitions. In efforts to hold the three exhibitions to a high standard, generate the synergistic effect of boosting peripheral industries, and help participants seize business opportunities, the organiser has decided to postpone the exhibitions to December after careful consideration. The exact dates will be announced later.


Social Service Facilities to Resume Operation Next Monday

The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) announces that in view of the development of the pandemic in Macao, all subsidised childcare, day care and community facilities will resume operation from October 4 (Monday) provided that there are no significant changes in today or tomorrow. The temporary suspension of family visits to residents’ rooms in nursing homes and rehabilitation homes will also be lifted effective from that date.
