MGTO actively prepares for Spring Festival Golden Week Strict compliance with pandemic preventive measures to ensure safe and quality travel

The Spring Festival Golden Week is about to unfold between 31 January and 6 February 2022. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has been carrying out a variety of preparations to welcome visitors and publicize information about pandemic prevention via various channels to ensure safe and quality travel. The Office will hold Chinese New Year festivities in strict compliance with the guidelines on pandemic prevention.

Cross-departmental promotion on consumer rights protection carried out at Lunar New Year Fair

The Consumer Council continues its promotional work on popularizing “Consumer Rights and Interests Protection Law” before Lunar New Year. The Council, together with the Macao Custom Service, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), disseminated promotional leaflets to stall owners of Lunar New Year Fair, reminding them to sell lawful and safe products as well as to label all products in MOP. The Council has arranged special service during Lunar New Year holiday to provide service to consumers.



IFTM School of Continuing Education held Art Certificate Exam of China scheme

Together with the Macao office of China Institute of Arts Science & Technology, IFTM successfully held the Art Certificate Exam of China (Grade 3 for Pencil Sketch & Grade 6 for Watercolour Painting) in July 2021. A total of 28 secondary school students of Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional sat in the exams, with their works submitted to the Art Certificate Exam Center of China Institute of Arts Science & Technology for assessment on the same day. Each work was evaluated strictly and positively. The certificates were then awarded in November 2021.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for December 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 118 hotels & guesthouses offered accommodation services to the public in December 2021, a decrease of 1 year-on-year. Meanwhile, number of available guest rooms increased by 10.3% to 39,000. Data on hotels & guesthouses designated for medical observation and self-health monitoring were excluded in the compilation of the results. The average occupancy rate of guest rooms was 54.7%, representing a month-on-month growth of 8.2 percentage points and a year-on-year rise of 1.6 percentage points; the rate for 3-star hotels stood at 66.2%, while that for both 4-star and 5-star hotels exceeded 50%.

MGTO actively prepares for the 2022 Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Tiger Chinese New Year festivities are arranged in compliance with pandemic prevention measures

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will present the mega celebration event — “2022 Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Tiger” at the central and northern districts on the 3rd day (3 February) and 12th day (12 February) of Lunar New Year respectively to celebrate the Spring Festival with residents and visitors under strict compliance with the pandemic prevention measures.


UM releases 2022 macroeconomic forecast for Macao

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Macau Studies (CMS) and Department of Economics today (26 January) released the 2022 Macroeconomic Forecast for Macao, estimating that the economy will grow between 3.6% and 37.9% in 2022; exports of services will grow between 5.8% and 64.7%; and the final revenue of the Macao SAR government will remain at around MOP 51.2 billion to MOP 65.9 billion.


IFTM students offering marketing ideas to entrepreneurs in the creative industry

Students from the Tourism Retail and Marketing Management programme engaged in an industrial project to help a group of dynamic young entrepreneurs who started a very innovative company called MacCrew. This is an eclectic lifestyle business where arts, fashion, lifestyle and F&B are merged to create an innovative space for consumers to experience. As part of the business model, sports shoes or sneakers customisation service is one of the key elements of MacCrew. Customers pay for the design and customisation service for their chosen shoes.
