Employment survey for October-December 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (3.1%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (4.1%) for October-December 2021 increased by 0.3 percentage points from the previous period (September-November 2021). Meanwhile, the underemployment rate dropped by 0.3 percentage points to 4.0%.

Mandarin’s House launches an augmented reality (AR) mobile application to diversify the presentation of its history and enrich the visiting experience
The Mandarin’s House, one of the World Heritage sites under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), has launched an augmented reality (AR) mobile application. Starting from 31 January, with the help of AR technologies, residents and tourists can explore the history of the Mandarin’s House on their mobile phones by scanning a specific QR code or accessing the mini-application of IC’s official WeChat account during their visits to the Mandarin’s House. In order to promote the AR mobile application for the Mandarin’s House, from 31 January to 25 February, the first ten visitors on each day, who complete the designated tasks will be entitled to receive an attractive gift, while stocks last.

Transport and communications statistics for December 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 247,603 as at end-2021, up by 1.4% year-on-year. Light automobiles (113,344) and heavy motorcycles (105,947) increased by 1.8% and 3.0% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, new registration of motor vehicles in December decreased by 6.3% year-on-year to 1,121. For the whole year of 2021, new registration of motor vehicles edged up by 0.9% year-on-year to 12,489, with that of light automobiles (5,454) rising by 8.5% whereas that of heavy motorcycles (6,686) falling by 3.1%. Number of traffic accidents in December rose by 5.9% year-on-year to 1,076, with 2 persons killed and 338 persons injured. In 2021, traffic accidents went up by 25.3% year-on-year to 12,776, which resulted in 5 deaths and 4,374 injuries.
