Tourism Development Committee convenes the second Plenary Meeting of 2021 MGTO will strive to foster tourism recovery and development by four major goals next year

The Tourism Development Committee (CDT, on its Portuguese acronym) convened the second Plenary Meeting of 2021 at Macao Science Center today (12 November), presided over by Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and Committee Chairperson, Lei Wai Nong. Different CDT members actively raised suggestions on Macao’s latest tourism situation. Next year, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will strive to push forward tourism recovery and development by working on four major areas as follows: expand the spectrum of visitor source, foster community tourism and economy, deepen “tourism +” integration and regional cooperation.

IPIM Facilitates Over 1,000 Business Matching Sessions in CIIE to Help Macao Enterprises Expand their Market

The 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was successfully concluded on 10 November after running for six consecutive days. Fruitful results were achieved during the event by the 46 Macao exhibitors organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). In the two pavilions set up by IPIM, over 1,000 business matching sessions were conducted, covering many industries such as food trade, hotel, catering and e-commerce, and throughout the event 12 preliminary memoranda of co-operation were signed.




Macao Orchestra cancels the concert “The Song of the Earth”

The Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), has decided to cancel the concert “Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of the première of Mahler’s work: The Song of the Earth – Macao Orchestra and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra”, originally scheduled for 20 November, due to the epidemic prevention and control measures in Mainland China and to the fact that some performers will not be able to visit Macao. However, the Macao Orchestra will present the concert “A Night of German and Austrian Serenades” on that day, offering a high quality performance for the public.

Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 30 June 2021

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 30 June 2021, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP1,077.6 billion at current market value, representing a rise of 5.1% from end-2020 or 11.9% from end-June 2020. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP370.5 billion, MOP639.0 billion and MOP68.1 billion respectively. As compared with end-2020, equity securities, long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities rose by 7.0%, 2.9% and 18.1% respectively.
