A total of 126,141 COVID-19 vaccine jabs administered in Macao

As of 4pm on Thursday (13 May), a total of 126,141 COVID-19 vaccine jabs had been administered in Macao, according to statistics provided by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – April 2021

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP206.7 billion (USD25.85 billion) at the end of April 2021. The reserves increased by 3.1% from the revised value of MOP200.5 billion (USD25.03 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-April 2021 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 86.6% of pataca M2 at end-March 2021.


DSI self-service applications for identification documents will be suspended this Saturday due to system maintenance

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) will conduct system maintenance on 15th May 2021 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the self-service applications for identification documents (i.e. self-service applications for Macau SAR Resident Identity Card, Macau SAR Travel Documents and Certificates) will be suspended at that time. DSI are sorry for any inconvenience caused.


MGTO and IPIM ride on Macao Week in Jiangsu to hold trade presentation seminar with continuous efforts to promote tourism + MICE

After holding Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminars at the Macao Weeks in Beijing and Hangzhou successively, Macao Government Tourism Office and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute have commenced an array of promotional initiatives in various cities across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area since March. Riding on the “Macao Week in Jiangsu”, the two offices organized the “Jiangsu — Macao Tourism and MICE Presentation Seminar” in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, today (13 May), joined by a travel and MICE trade delegation from Macao. The seminar presented the strengths of Macao’s tourism and MICE industries and facilitated networking among industry delegates from both sides, while raising Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and quality destination.


“Macao Week in Jiangsu – Taste of Macao Food Promotion” presents Macao’s signature delicacies

Capitalizing on the timing of the “Macao Week in Jiangsu” held in Nanjing, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Jinling Hotel Nanjing and Macau Cuisine Association together roll out the “Macao Week in Jiangsu – Taste of Macao Food Promotion” from 13 – 26 May to bring into the limelight Macao’s unique gastronomic brand – Macanese and Portuguese cuisine, to radiate Macao’s glamour as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. The inauguration ceremony for the “Macao Week in Jiangsu – Taste of Macao Food Promotion” was held during the Jiangsu – Macao Tourism and MICE Presentation Seminar today (13 May).


Total number of polling stations for September election kept at 36

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election has decided to maintain at 36 the number of polling stations to be used for this year’s Legislative Assembly Election, which set for 12 September.


IPIM Organises Macao Commercial and MICE Sectors to Join the First China International Consumer Products Expo

Organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, the first China International Consumer Products Expo was held in Haikou, Hainan from 7 to 10 May. To have a better understanding of Hainan province’s practice and enhancing the connection between Macao’s commercial associations and the Expo’s exhibitors, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised 35 representatives of Macao’s commercial and MICE sectors to visit Haikou from 6 to 8 May to participate in the 1st China International Consumer Products Expo. At the event IPIM set up the “Macao Pavilion” to showcase Macao’s business environment and advantages in holding MICE events. On 7 May, an exchange session for Hainan and Macao participants was held, where MICE specialists from both places shared their experiences in organising events. Business matching activities were also included in the session to promote the qualitative development of the MICE sector.


MPI holds Gaming Leadership Seminar Series

To cultivate the high-calibre talent for the gaming and recreation industry in Macao, the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies (CJT) of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) recently arranged three gaming leadership seminars for the students in the Master of Business Administration in Gaming Management programme. Leaders from the gaming industry were invited to give presentations based on their areas of expertise, and to share their experience, knowledge and skills. They are: Mr. Grant Bowie, a seasoned executive with rich experience in gaming, former CEO of MGM China; Mr. Raymond Lo, Senior Vice President, Property General Manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Clubs, Melco Resorts & Entertainment; and Mr. Benny Ho, Director of Cage, Sands China. These industry seminars were well received among the teachers and students at MPI.


Cultural Affairs Bureau extends rental waive of CCM’s Facilities

Since Covid-19 broke out last year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has implemented numerous measures to ease the burden caused by the pandemic to arts practitioners and cultural associations, including Macao Cultural Centre’s Rental Waiver scheme. Now, aiming to support a consistent recovery of local associations, IC will extend this Rental Waiver until 31 December 2021.


Mortgage loans statistics – March 2021

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both increased in March 2021. With regard to the outstanding balances, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed declines.
