Police to keep tabs on gaming-related crimes, says Secretary for Security
Any violation of Macao law would not be tolerated, and people working in the gaming industry had strictly to abide by the law, said on Monday (29 November) the Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, in comments to reporters after outlining Macao’s 2022 policy guidelines on public security to members of the Legislative Assembly.

Transport and communications statistics for October 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 246,452 as at end-October 2021, up by 1.6% year-on-year. Light automobiles (112,677) and heavy motorcycles (105,132) increased by 1.9% and 3.1% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, new registration of motor vehicles in October decreased by 17.2% year-on-year to 903, with that of heavy motorcycles (500) dropping by 22.6% respectively. In the first ten months of 2021, new registration of motor vehicles went up by 3.1% year-on-year to 10,197. Number of traffic accidents in October fell by 17.5% year-on-year to 889, with 2 persons killed and 348 persons injured. From January to October 2021, traffic accidents grew by 30.1% year-on-year to 10,626, which resulted in 3 deaths and 3,682 injuries.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for October 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 116 hotels & guesthouses offered accommodation services to the public in October 2021, a decrease of 3 year-on-year. Meanwhile, number of available guest rooms increased by 0.9% to 36,000. Data on hotels & guesthouses designated for medical observation and self-health monitoring were excluded in the compilation of the results. In parallel with a month-on-month decline of 63.9% in the number of overnight visitors resulting from the tightened cross-boundary measures between Zhuhai and Macao in early to mid-October, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms dropped by 4.9 percentage points from September to 44.6% in October; yet, it represented a year-on-year growth of 4.8 percentage points.

Online registration for the exchange of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games banknotes commencing tomorrow
The online registration for the exchange of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games banknotes will commence at 9:00 am on 1 December 2021. Macao residents can conduct the registration via the Authority’s website. Each Macao resident can only conduct a single registration to exchange for 2 pieces of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games banknotes, and the registration will end at 6:00 pm on 23 December 2021.

Sign Languages eLearning Program kicks off MGTO joins industry partner and community organizations to promote accessible tourism
The “Power in Our Hands – The Greater Bay Area Sign Language Community Outreach eLearning Program” was launched today (29 November). Members of the travel trade can start learning online through the link at Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s Macao Tourism Industry Net, leveraging the convenient e-platform to enhance their basic knowledge of sign language for daily conversations, and learn more about cultural tourism of Macao and the Greater Bay Area. Learners can become better equipped for efficient communication with hearing-impaired individuals, in turn contributing to the betterment of Macao as an accessible tourism destination.

Cultural Affairs Bureau launches pilot version of the Filming Permit Application Platform to facilitate film and television productions in Macao
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has launched a pilot version of the Filming Permit Application Platform to facilitate filming units to apply for filming permits through the online platform, and also to allow to check the progress of the applications. The platform will provide a more efficient, user-friendly and business-friendly electronic channel for the film and television industry to handle enquiries and applications of filming permits, helping to promote the development of Macao’s film and television production industry.
