Security authorities dedicated to maintaining public safety in Macao

Crime enforcement statistics recorded in the first nine months of 2021 and published today show Macao remains a secure and safe city.




Exhibition “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Export of Silk Products in the Ming and Qing Dynasties” opens on Friday at the Macao Museum

In order to promote the development of the Cultured Greater Bay Area in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and further strengthen cooperation among the three regions, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will hold the exhibition “A Tale of Three Cities: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Export of Silk Products in the Ming and Qing Dynasties” on the third floor of the Museum. The opening ceremony will be held on 26 November (Friday), at 6:30pm, at the lobby of the Macao Museum. The exhibition is open to the public from 27 November 2021 to 13 March 2022.

Consumer price index (CPI) for October 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for October 2021 (102.84) rose by 0.91% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to dearer prices of gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas, higher charges for eating out, as well as increasing airfares and wages of domestic helpers; however, the rise was partially offset by lower rentals for dwellings and retreating prices of pork. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Transport and Household Furnishings & Services surged by 7.66% and 4.46% year-on-year respectively, whereas the indices of Communication and Clothing & Footwear fell by 2.13% and 1.80%. The CPI-A (102.81) and CPI-B (102.87) saw respective growth of 0.78% and 1.10% year-on-year.


Cultural Affairs Bureau offers online virtual tours of the Guia Fortress and the Mandarin’s House to promote digitalisation of cultural heritage resources and enrich cultural experiences

The “Guia Fortress” and the “Mandarin’s House”, two World Heritage sites under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will offer online virtual tours from 22 November. The public can enjoy a 360-degree “cloud tour” of these Macao World Heritage sites by scanning a specific QR code and logging into the Macao World Heritage website or the Macao Cultural Heritage website via computers or mobile devices.


Statistical Data on Anti-illegal Workers Operations in October 2021

Concerning the joint and sole operations against illegal workers launched by the Public Security Police Force, the Labour Affairs Bureau and other authorities in October 2021 at construction sites, private flats, commercial and industrial establishments, etc., the figures are set out below.


Visitor arrivals for October 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals decreased by 47.8% month-on-month to 328,245 in October 2021 on account of the tightening of cross-boundary measures between Zhuhai and Macao in early to mid-October; the figure also represented a drop of 43.6% year-on-year. Numbers of same-day visitors (216,829) and overnight visitors (111,416) fell by 20.8% and 63.9% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.9 day year-on-year to 2.3 days, with that of overnight visitors (7.2 days) increasing by 4.5 days as some visitors extended their stay in Macao in the face of quarantine measures imposed on individuals entering Zhuhai from Macao in early to mid-October. On the other hand, the average length of stay of same-day visitors (0.1 day) remained unchanged.
