More than 70 Macao and Bay Area Enterprises Participated in MPI Careers Day
In order to strengthen institute-enterprise cooperation, and provide enterprises and students with a career matching platform in Macao and the Greater Bay Area, Macao Polytechnic Institute is organizing series of activities for “MPI Careers Day 2021”. Activities include online and offline career exhibitions by more than 70 enterprises, the provision of more than 2,000 employment and internship opportunities and more than a dozen employment talks. The talks cover topics of job interview strategies, youth entrepreneurship and innovation, emerging in the world’s majors, youth Bay Area development and other issues, so as to assist students in their career development planning. Many prospective graduates and students were attracted to the on-site registration and matching.

Latest retail prices of disinfectants and cleaning products announced Price comparison available on “Platform”
The Consumer Council collected price information of 20 disinfection products and 15 personal care products on 9 March from 25 drugstores and supermarkets. The price data of the said products are now available on the Council’s “Macao Price Information Platform” app. Survey result reviews price differences in various retail locations, consumers are suggested to use different functions on the platform to make better consumption choice.

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released survey results of Manpower Needs and Wages of the Gaming Sector for the fourth quarter of 2020. Survey coverage excludes junket promoters and junket associates.

Residential property price index for November 2020 – January 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for November 2020 - January 2021 decreased by 0.4% over the previous period (October - December 2020) to 267.7. The index for the Macao Peninsula (267.4) fell by 0.5%, while that for Taipa & Coloane (268.6) held steady from the previous period.

Portuguese Wine Tasting Event held by IFTM Wine Appreciation Club
The IFTM Wine Appreciation Club, an affiliate of the IFTM Student Union has successfully concluded its Portuguese wine tasting event on 5 March. The event provided an opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge in Portuguese wines and to learn from the wine trade professionals on Macao’s role as a Sino-Portuguese trading platform.

Libraries Encourage Book Exchange and Sharing of Reading Resources Book collection starts on March 10
In order to promote the reading habits as well as to encourage residents who love reading to meet friends through books and share their resources, the Department of Public Library Management, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will hold the “Book Exchange” activity of the 2021 “Macao Library Week”. The book collection for the activity will be held from March 10 (Wednesday) to April 11 (Sunday), from 2pm to 8pm on Monday, and from 8:30am to 8pm from Tuesday to Sunday, excluding on public holidays. All are welcome to participate.

Telephone hotline and online platform to be launched for electoral complaints
The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election and the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) will launch jointly, tomorrow (9 March), a telephone hotline to handle any complaints that might arise relating to the 2021 Legislative Assembly Election, which is set to take place on 12 September.

New Macao Central Library develops a learning commons for the public to exchange integrating diversified and inclusive features to meet the needs for all ages and daily life
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) hosted a press conference on 8 March, presenting the selection results for the conceptual design proposals of the new Macao Central Library. The President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian, the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man, the representative of experts who participated in the selection panel of the new Macao Central Library, Wu Jianzhong and the Head of the Department of Public Library Management, Loi Chi Pang, attended the press conference and presented the selection results of the conceptual design proposals of the new Macao Central Library and its functional planning. In the future, in terms of meeting the needs of all ages, diversification and life, the new Macao Central Library will integrate diversified and inclusive features and will become the city’s knowledge centre for reading, communication, learning, leisure and creativity development, as well as a smart library integrated with information technology. IC will continue to promote the relevant works and announce the progress of the project in a timely manner.

IPIM and MICE Sector Visit Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Pave Way for MICE’s Future Growth
The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised around 30 representatives of the Macao MICE sector for a business mission to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, where they met with the MICE industry practitioners from these places and discussed the future prospect and opportunities of the industry in an era when pandemic prevention has become a permanent measure. The purposes of the exchange was to publicise Macao as an MICE stage and foster the co-operation between Macao MICE industry and its counterpart in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
