UM Health Sciences Summer Camp sparks secondary students’ interest in scientific research
The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the University of Macau (UM) organised two sessions of Health Sciences Summer Camp, which attracted over 70 senior secondary students from 36 schools in Macao. The camp featured interactive teaching methods, allowing students to acquire the latest biomedical knowledge and research skills under the guidance of FHS faculty and students, and to explore the world of scientific research.

Guangdong Province to issue municipal government bonds in Macao for the fifth consecutive year
With the support of the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Guangdong province, the Guangdong Government will issue offshore RMB-denominated municipal government bonds in Macao during late August, with an expected issuance size of RMB 2.5 billion. In addition to the continued issuance of Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin-themed bonds and green bonds, the Guangdong Government will issue themed bonds supporting the 15th National Games and blue bonds for the first time. All bonds will be offered exclusively to professional investors.

MICE statistics for the first half of 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of MICE events rose by 29.3% (+208) year-on-year to 918 in the first half of 2025, of which those themed on “Commerce & Management” and “Information Technology” increased by 91 and 36 respectively.

Cultural Affairs Bureau launches the picture book The Musical Journey of Xian Xinghai in paperback edition
To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the 120th anniversary of the birth of Xian Xinghai, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has recently published and launched the picture book The Musical Journey of Xian Xinghai in paperback edition. The publication aims to pay tribute to Xian’s remarkable contributions to the nation and his musical achievements, offering young readers an inspiring example of bravery, dedication and patriotism. The picture book will be distributed free of charge from 20 August at all public libraries in Macao, multiple cultural venues, and events commemorating Xian Xinghai. Interested residents are welcome to collect a copy.
