UM’s new breakthrough in stem cell research promotes fat engraftment for cosmetic surgery
Prof Ren-He Xu in the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and his research team have discovered a new way to enhance fat engraftment with the use of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) derived from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). This type of MSCs has the potential to be used as an innovative, cell-based biomaterial to support lipofilling widely used in cosmetic surgery. The related research finding has been published in the internationally renowned journal Biomaterials.

Visitor numbers continue to trend upward Macao registers highest daily record of over 34,000 visitor arrivals yesterday
Visitor arrivals in Macao continue to show an upward trend in recent days. A total of 191,828 visitor arrivals were registered over the past week (9 – 15 April) with an average daily volume of 27,404 visitors, which surged by 111.7% compared with the average daily visitor arrivals during the Spring Festival Golden Week (12,947). In addition, Macao welcomed 34,252 visitor arrivals on 16 April (Friday), the highest daily record of visitor arrivals since the start of the pandemic. Hotel establishments saw an average occupancy rate of 61.0% between 9 and 15 April, a rise of 12.7 percentage points compared with that of the Spring Festival Golden Week (48.3%).

31st Macao Arts Festival to Unveil Photography Exhibition by Baptiste Rabichon
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), the exhibition “A Room with a View - Baptiste Rabichon Photography Exhibition” was inaugurated on 16 April, at 6:30pm, at Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Deputy Chief of the Division of Culture and Sports of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Xin Jianbo; the President of the General Assembly of the Alliance Française de Macao, Jorge Neto Valente; the President of the General Assembly of the Photographic Society of Macao, Kuok Keng Man; the President of the Macau Artist Society, Lok Hei; the Director of the Art For All Society Macau, Alice Kok; and the Photographic artist, Wong Ho Sang. Displaying contemporary photographic works by the emerging French contemporary photographer Baptiste Rabichon, this exhibition is one of the visual art exhibitions featured in the 31st Macao Art Festival (MAF). All are welcome to visit.

The project “Stay, Dine and See Macao” is officially unveiled for the first stage, attracting a multitude of enthusiastic applicants especially for the Helicopter Ride Experience and Yacht Check-in Tour. Given the limited quotas and to uphold the principle of fairness in the process of quota distribution, lots will be drawn to assign quotas to applicants. Interested residents can apply at accredited travel agencies for entering the lots before 18:00 next Monday (19 April).
