Specialized Subsidy Scheme for Prevention and Response to Major Infectious Diseases is Open for Application
The Higher Education Fund continues to launch the “Specialized Subsidy Scheme for Macao Higher Education Institutions in the Area of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences”this year. On top of that, the “Specialized Subsidy Scheme for Prevention and Response to Major Infectious Diseases” is added, with the aim of encouraging the teaching and research personnel of Macao higher education institutions to give full play to scientific research and improve Macao’s ability to deal with epidemic prevention education, regional governance and crisis response in the future in response to major infectious diseases. The scheme is now open for application until 4 September 2020.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to assist with the return of Macao residents stranded on the Diamond Princess Cruise
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will repatriate its residents on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess via charter flights.The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) has received the full support and assistance of the HKSAR Government, and having obtained the consent of the Macao residents on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess, has entrusted the HKSAR Government to assist in arranging for the return of these Macao residents. Staff from the Health Bureau and Tourism Crisis Management Office of the MSAR Government have left for Japan on the evening of the 17 of February to accompany the related tasks.
There are 5 Macao residents on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess, 2 men and 3 women, aged between 24 and 82 years old, three of whom simultaneously hold Macao and Hong Kong Resident Identification Cards.The MSAR Government has been in regular contact with the residents, that are expected to disembark on February 19 (Wednesday).
Subsequently, the 5 Macao residents will be flown back to Hong Kong on the charter flight arranged by the HKSAR Government, 2 of whom are holders of both Hong Kong and Macao Resident Identification Cards plan to stay in Hong Kong, and the other 3 will return to Macao on special transportation organized by the HKSAR Government. Upon arrival in Macao, they will be placed under medical observation and isolation for a period of 14 days in a designated location according to the requirement of the Macao Health Bureau.

Resumption of casino operations permitted after extensive evaluation of risk

Medical certificate compulsory for non-resident workers to re-enter Macao
Macao non-resident workers who have been to the mainland in the 14 days prior to their intended arrival in Macao, will only be permitted to enter Macao once they have completed a 14-day period of medical observation in certain places in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, and have obtained a certificate – issued by Zhuhai health authorities – confirming they are not infected by COVID-19.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 2,569 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the fourth quarter of 2019 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP14.15 billion, down by 14.7% and 19.1% respectively quarter-to-quarter.
