CE congratulates new principal officials for fifth-term Government

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, has today congratulated those who will act as principal officials and one as Public Prosecutor-General in order to serve in the fifth-term Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) following their appointment by the State Council.

MICE statistics for the 3rd quarter of 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of MICE events held in the third quarter of 2019 increased by 30 year-on-year to 341, including 320 meetings & conferences, 17 exhibitions and 4 incentives. Number of participants and attendees totalled 583,000, a drop of 16.3% year-on-year.


Transport and communications statistics for October 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 239,631 as at end-October 2019, a slight increase of 0.4% year-on-year. Light automobiles (108,837) and heavy motorcycles (99,295) rose by 1.2% and 2.3% respectively, whereas light motorcycles (24,171) went down by 8.5%. New registration of motor vehicles in October dropped by 3.8% year-on-year to 974, with heavy motorcycles (437) reducing by 17.9% while light automobiles (510) rising by 13.8%. In the first ten months of 2019, new registration of motor vehicles decreased by 14.9% year-on-year to 10,129. Number of traffic accidents went down by 11.5% year-on-year to 1,034 in October, involving 343 victims and 1 of them was killed. In the first ten months, there were 11,272 traffic accidents which resulted in 3,722 casualties, including 8 deaths.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for October 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours declined by 35.3% year-on-year to 509,000 in October 2019. Apart from an increase of 19.2% in package tour visitors from Malaysia (5,500), all other countries/places registered decreases, with those from mainland China (380,000), the Republic of Korea (33,000), Hong Kong (6,100) and Taiwan (60,000) dropping by 38.5%, 37.6%, 42.5% and 3.6% respectively. In the first ten months of 2019, number of package tour visitors totalled 7,292,000, which was similar to the corresponding figure in 2018.
