In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 40^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal and the 20^th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, the Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym) embarked a tour in Portugal, co-organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, performing in four cities namely, Évora, Coimbra, Portalegre, and Lisbon. During the visit, OM will participate in the world-famous Marvão International Music Festival in Portalegre and the Festival TODOS in Lisbon.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI (116.41) for August 2019 increased by 2.83% year-on-year, up by 0.23 percentage points from the 2.60% growth in July 2019. The increment in August was attributable to higher charges for eating out, rising rentals for dwellings and dearer prices of fresh pork, motor cars, gasoline and gold jewellery. The soaring prices of fresh pork in particular contributed 0.32 percentage points to the growth.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) enhanced Macao’s destination profile at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from 18 to 20 September. One of the event highlights, the 2019 PATA Gold Awards Dinner and Award Presentation, was held today (19 September). MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes is also attending the meetings of the Executive Board and Board of the Association scheduled from 20 to 21 September.

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of September on 19 September for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in São Lázaro, São Lourenço and Sé Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.
