UM holds forums on sustainable tourism and hospitality practices in Greater Bay Area

Two forums on sustainable tourism and hospitality practices in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area opened today (21 November) at the University of Macau (UM). The forums aimed to provide a platform for industry practitioners and academics to share their knowledge and experience in sustainable tourism and hospitality practices in the Greater Bay Area in order to promote education and employment in related fields in the area.


Cultural industries statistics 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 2,246 organisations were operating in the four core domains of cultural industries in Macao in 2018, namely 'Creative design', 'Cultural exhibitions & performances', 'Art collection' and 'Digital media', representing an increase of 155 year-on-year. Total number of persons engaged rose by 8.5% to 12,719, and Compensation of Employees went up by 5.8% to MOP 1.94 billion. Total Service Receipts of the cultural industries grew by 1.9% year-on-year to MOP 7.18 billion. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy increased by 9.7% to MOP 2.60 billion, accounting for 0.6% of the total Gross Value Added of all economic activities of Macao in 2018. Gross Fixed Capital Formation of the cultural industries amounted to MOP 0.29 billion, down by 35.6%.


Visitor arrivals for October 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals totalled 3,209,751 in October 2019, up by 1.8% year-on-year. Same-day visitors (1,734,832) increased by 8.1% year-on-year whereas overnight visitors (1,474,919) dropped by 4.8%. The average length of stay of visitors held steady year-on-year at 1.2 days; overnight visitors extended their stay by 0.1 day to 2.4 days, while the duration for same-day visitors stayed unchanged at 0.2 day.


Cooperation agreement signed between Macao and Brazil

The Macao SAR Government Consumer Council and theBrazilianAssociation of Consumer Defence(PROTESTE) signed a cooperation agreement to establish long-time partnership, the agreement brings substantial benefits to the connection of Macao and Brazil as well as consumer organizations in China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and in protecting consumer rights of citizens in both regions.


Tourism Development Committee convenes second Plenary Meeting of 2019

The Tourism Development Committee (CDT, on its Portuguese acronym) convened the second Plenary Meeting of 2019 today (20 November). Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Acting Committee Chairperson, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, presented the latest situation of Macao’s tourism industry and led a discussion with committee members on the structural change in visitor segments and transformation of visitors’ travel style. CDT members and representatives of the four Task Forces actively brought up suggestions regarding the current tourism situation in Macao.



Consumer Council released 5th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of November on 20 November for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.



Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “30th Anniversary of the Professional Civil Servants Association of Macao”

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Professional Civil Servants Association of Macao, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop of General Post Office, from 9:00 to 12:00 on 30th November 2019 providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “30th Anniversary of the Professional Civil Servants Association of Macao”.
