Employment survey for May-July 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the general unemployment rate for May-July 2019 was 1.8%, and the unemployment rate of local residents was 2.4%; meanwhile, the underemployment rate was 0.5%. All the three indicators increased by 0.1 percentage point from the previous period (April-June 2019).

UM graduate to receive first prize in global health conference for study on health of Filipina migrant workers in Macao

Huang Lei, a fresh graduate from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), University of Macau (UM), will receive a first prize in the undergraduate student poster contest of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Global Health Conference to be held in Hong Kong, for her poster that presents a study examining the spatial and sociodemographic correlates of the weight status among Filipina migrant workers in Macao.


Consumer Council released 8th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of August on 26 August for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 7 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.

Termination of the registration period for the exchange of 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes and the Zodiac Banknotes this Friday

The online registration period for the exchange of the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes and the four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes will end at 6:00pm on 30 August 2019 (Friday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those citizens who are interested in exchanging for the said notes to complete their registration before the mentioned deadline.


Mr Ho Iat Seng elected Chief Executive of Macao

Mr Ho Iat Seng is Chief Executive-elect of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) following the Fifth Chief Executive Election held today. Mr Ho won the election with 392 votes, representing 98 percent of the total votes available.
