UTM Hosts 2025 Greater Bay Area Tourism Forum at MITE
The Macao University of Tourism (UTM), the relying unit of the “Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the coordinating unit of the “Alliance for Developing Macao as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tourism Education and Training Base”, in partnership with the China Tourism Academy, hosted the 2025 High-level Forum on Greater Bay Area (GBA) Tourism Development on April 25 during the 13th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo, MITE. As a key player in advancing tourism education and regional collaboration, UTM brought together over 150 government representatives, industry experts, academics, and university students to strategise on elevating the GBA’s global appeal as a world-class culture and tourism destination.

MGTO invites international travel trade to join Trade Gathering Mini-Mart in MITE and inspect community tourism attractions
The 13th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) grandly commenced today (25 April). Riding on this major occasion, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) invited about 100 representatives of overseas travel agency associations from numerous countries and regions and the Hong Kong travel trade to join the Trade Gathering Mini-Mart at MITE and explore business opportunities with members of the tourism sector in Macao. The delegates also visited different communities for an experience of the diverse tourism attractions during their stay in Macao.

Employment survey for the 1st quarter of 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (1.9%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.5%) in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 0.2 percentage points quarter-on-quarter. Meanwhile, the general underemployment rate (1.2%) and the underemployment rate of local residents (1.6%) each decreased by 0.3 percentage points.

The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has seamlessly integrated its 2025 strategic plan “Debut@Macao” into MICE events, investment promotion, and business co-operation initiatives. In the first four months of this year, IPIM has supported multiple companies in launching their new products and technologies in Macao through the establishment of the “Debut Economy Project Exhibition Area” at major MICE events, hosting the “Debut@Macao – Project Launch x Innovation Matching Session”, and leveraging “Encontro”, the platform established by IPIM for promoting and selling products from Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out maintenance of information system from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on 26 April. During this period, the booking, reception and queuing management system will be out of service intermittently. IAM appeals to the public for their understanding.

The 13th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) grandly opened today (25 April). Under the theme of “Explore MITE, Experience the World”, MITE presents six major highlights and brings together 755 tourism-related businesses and governmental entities from 70 countries and regions. The numbers of countries and regions involved, exhibitors and booths reach an all-time-high this year. The number of international exhibitor booths increases by 50%. MITE functions as an impactful platform that creates a world of businesses opportunities in international tourism and fosters regional and international tourism cooperation and exchange, contributing to forging a platform for Macao’s high-level opening up to the world.

IAM to remove a withered tree in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida
An ancientcamphor tree (no. 539) located in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida was diagnosed with infection of the brown root rot disease years ago. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) joined hands with the experts from the Guangzhou Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture to continuously carry out inspections and monitoring of the ancient tree, and the care and treatment measures, such as pest prevention and control, application of fertilisation and medication, and trimming for height control, were adopted according to the experts’ advice. However, there was no improvement in the growth conditions of the ancient tree and it has withered. To ensure public safety, the tree will be removed on 26 April and restoration of the pavement surface will be arranged simultaneously. During the works period, the public are advised to follow the on-site instructions and refrain from entering the enclosed area to avoid accidents.
