Macao Chinese Orchestra presents the concert “Glittering Lights, Shining Flowers”celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland with the fusion of Chinese and Western music

The Concert of Celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland – “Glittering Lights, Shining Flowers”, the highlight of the Macao Chinese Orchestra 2024-25 Concert Season, will be held on 1 December (Sunday), at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Under the baton of the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Macao Chinese Orchestra (OCHM), Zhang Lie, the Orchestra will collaborate with top musicians to present a selection of iconic pieces.


Results of construction sector survey and architectural & engineering consultancy services survey for 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 4,482 establishments were operating in the Construction Sector in 2023, an increase of 270 year-on-year. Among them, 1,193 were engaged in construction projects with permits as main contractor or first-level sub-contractor and 3,289 were engaged in simple renovation projects. Total number of persons engaged rose by 1,806 year-on-year to 48,361.


Stay vigilant against the “Macao Spending Rewards” lucky draw SMS scam to avoid personal and credit card information theft

The Judiciary Police (PJ) found out that scammers had been randomly sending phishing text messages to residents under the guise of "Macao Spending Rewards." These SMS entice residents to click the embedded links by falsely alleging that recipients can enter a lucky draw. The link leads to a webpage that impersonates the “Macao Spending Rewards” website. The site claims the victim has won a prize and requests them to enter personal and credit card information. The information extracted is then used to conduct unauthorized transactions, resulting in financial losses for the victims.


Drone Ban on Coloane Island on October 19

In accordance with Article 66 of the "Air Navigation Regulation of Macao" approved by the Executive Order No. 43/2021, the Civil Aviation Authority will implement an unmanned aircraft ban on Coloane Island on 19 October 2024 (all day) to ensure that the government activities on the Island can be carried out smoothly and safely. Violators may be fined between MOP 2,000 and MOP 20,000 by the Authority.






Forum on ‘one country, two systems’ policy to be held at UM next week

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, the University of Macau (UM) and the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau of the Macao SAR will jointly hold a forum on the ‘one country, two systems’ policy on 21 and 22 October. The aim of the forum is to review the successful implementation of the ‘one country, two systems’ policy in Macao and to explore the future development of the city.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – September 2024

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (15 October) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP230.6 billion (USD28.81 billion) at the end of September 2024. The reserves increased by 0.8% from the revised value of MOP228.9 billion (USD28.50 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-September 2024 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 91.2% of pataca M2 at end-August 2024.
