Investment Management Review of the Macao Sar Fiscal Reserve for the first half of 2017

As of the end of the first half of 2017, total assets of the Macao SAR Fiscal Reserve stood at MOP478.1 billion approximately, composing the Basic Reserve of MOP128.0 billion and the Excess Reserve of MOP350.1 billion. During the first two quarters of 2017, the Fiscal Reserve continued to be managed under a prudent and effective strategy and recorded an investment income of MOP10.1 billion, representing an annualized rate of return of 4.4%.


Consumer Council conducts price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council on 1 August collects prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets for consumers’ reference. The mentioned data collected during 26 July to 1 August are used for comparing the average selling price of the same products from Zhuhai. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.


MPI hosts awards ceremony for the 9th Macao-wide IT Competition – ALICE 3D Programming Contest

Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the 2nd quarter 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers increased by 6.0% quarter-to-quarter to MOP880 in the second quarter of 2017. The average daily wage of local (MOP1,091) and non-resident construction workers (MOP775) rose by 4.4% and 3.3% respectively quarter-to-quarter.


Seniors Aged 75 or Older can start to Apply for Withdrawal of Funds from Provident Fund Individual Accounts from Tomorrow

In August, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) will start to accept the applications for the withdrawal of funds in stages by age group, from eligible provident fund individual account owners. For individuals aged 75 or older, those who have been receiving disability pension from the FSS for more than one year or those who are currently receiving special disability subsidy from the Social Welfare Bureau (SWB), they can start to apply for the withdrawal of funds from their provident fund individual accounts on August 1. Seniors aged between 65 and 74 can start to apply for the withdrawal of funds in September.


Transport and communications statistics for the 1st half year of 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that new registration of motor vehicles increased by 22.6% year-on-year to 3,494 in the second quarter of 2017, with that of motorcycles (2,258) surging by 44.0%. New registration of motor vehicles in the first half year of 2017 went up by 6.0% year-on-year to 7,256, attributable to an increase in heavy motorcycles (+21.1%). As at the end of June 2017, total number of licensed motor vehicles dropped by 1.9% year-on-year to 243,570, of which heavy motorcycles (94,600) grew by 3.0% while light automobiles (109,500) decreased by 1.6%. There were 3,630 cases of traffic accidents in the second quarter of 2017 and number of victims totalled 1,141, up by 2.2% and 6.0% respectively year-on-year. In the first half year of 2017, number of traffic accidents fell by 2.9% year-on-year to 7,208 cases, resulting in 2,259 casualties and 4 of them were killed.

Twenty-second issue of C2 Magazine explores the protection of cultural and creative products by intellectual property rights

Published by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and produced by 100 Plus Cultural and Creative Development Ltd., the twenty-second issue of C2 Magazine will be launched on Wednesday, 2 August. It is important to protect the cultural and creative products from being plagiarized by others, patent is a form of protection to the inventors’ effort and contributes to the success of cultural and creative products and design by granting them exclusive rights. In “Feature”, representatives from two local cultural and creative brands share their experiences in protecting their intellectual properties.
