Statistical Data on Anti-illegal Worker Operations in August 2024

Concerning the Public Security Police Force’s operations and the Labour Affairs Bureau’s operations as well as various joint operations against illegal workers in August 2024, the figures are set out below:


CE and Governor of People's Bank of China discuss financial cooperation

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, met today in Macao with the Governor of the People's Bank of China, Mr Pan Gongsheng. They exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, such as financial cooperation between the mainland and Macao.


CE: Macao committed to serving as financial platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today highlighted that the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government’s effort over the years to build Macao into a financial platform serving between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), while bolstering the city’s overall bridging role and services in connecting these countries.




Results of travel agencies survey 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 177 travel agencies operating in 2023, an increase of 1 year-on-year. Total number of persons engaged rose by 802 year-on-year to 2,993. Receipts of the industry soared by 214.3% year-on-year to MOP5.06 billion, which recovered to 60% of the level in 2019. Expenditure amounted to MOP4.78 billion, an uplift of 180.8% year-on-year.


Visitor arrivals for August 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of visitor arrivals set a new monthly record of 3,651,731 during the summer holiday in August 2024, which represented a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, a rise of 0.8% from the same month in 2019, and a month-on-month growth of 20.9%. Same-day visitors (2,041,362) and overnight visitors (1,610,369) grew by 23.4% and 2.7% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.1 days, with that of overnight visitors rising by 0.1 day to 2.3 days.


“Exhibition of the Legacy of Zheng Guanying” by the Cultural Affairs Bureau to be inaugurated on Friday (27 September)

In order to promote the deeds and contributions of Zheng Guanying, who was a Chinese thinker in modern China, the Cultural Affairs Bureau will host the “Exhibition of the Legacy of Zheng Guanying” at the Zheng Guanying Memorial Museum. An opening ceremony will be held on 27 September (Friday), at 4:30pm, on the third floor of the museum, and all are welcome to participate.
