Campaign period starts on Saturday for Chief Executive Election Committee poll

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election today issued a remainder that any campaigning activities for the 11 August poll to choose members of the Chief Executive Election Committee, should be in line with Chief Executive Election Law and the 1/CAECE/2024 guideline issued by the Electoral Affairs Commission.




IAM treats trees to prevent and control seasonal pest infestation

Macao is in the midst of a season with high temperature and rainfall, which is a time when disease and pest infestation frequent occur. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has found that street trees in some streets and districts have been affected by seasonal pest infestations in recent inspections and has immediately used medication to prevent and treat the infestations. IAM will continue to adjust the relevant treatment measures based on the changes of the trees to suppress pest infestation. Meanwhile, notices were hung on trees on which pesticide has been used, so as to remind the public to avoid coming into contact with these trees.


Seminar dedicated to popularisation of veterinary law increases sector’s understanding of ethics and obligations

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals jointly held “Veterinary law popularisation seminar” to brief the veterinary clinical care sector on the “Code of Professional Ethics of Veterinary Surgeons” and their rights and obligations. A series of laws and regulations, including “Law on Veterinary Clinical Care and Commercial Activity of Animals”, “Animal Protection Law” and “Animal Epidemic Prevention Law”, was introduced during the seminar to encourage the sector to comply with the rules and apply them in their operations, so as to raise the veterinary profession’s service standard.


UM Portuguese Language Summer Programme closing ceremony showcases participants’ learning outcomes

The Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau (UM) held a closing ceremony for the 38th Portuguese Language Summer Programme. During the event, participants demonstrated their learning outcomes over the past three weeks through dance performances and poetry recitations. Certificates were also presented to those who passed the course requirements.


IAM announces results of routine food surveillance for second quarter with over 99% pass rate

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continuously carries out food safety supervision and sampling tests to assess the consumption risks and hygiene conditions of food products available on the market. In the second quarter this year, a total of 537 food samples were randomly collected from the market in Macao for testing, with an overall pass rate of 99.8 per cent.


Consumer price index (CPI) for June 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for June 2024 rose by 0.64% year-on-year, marking the fourth consecutive month of slowdown in growth. Among the various sections of goods and services, the price indices of Education (+5.06%), Miscellaneous Goods & Services (+2.53%) and Health (+2.41%) saw notable year-on-year growth. In addition, the price indices of Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+0.99%) and Housing & Fuels (+0.59%) went up owing to higher charges for eating out, rising rentals for dwellings, dearer prices of liquefied petroleum gas and increases in electricity charges. On the other hand, the price indices of Transport (-3.60%) and Recreation & Culture (-0.65%) dropped. The CPI-A and CPI-B recorded respective growth of 0.64% and 0.65% year-on-year.

The grand opening of the “Celebration of 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland ‧ 2024 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair”, jointly organised by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao Special Administrative Region (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, was held today (25 July).
