Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the second quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers dropped by 1.2% quarter-on-quarter to MOP750 in the second quarter of 2024. The average daily wages of local workers and non-resident construction workers were MOP964 and MOP681 respectively, down by 0.5% and 0.4% quarter-on-quarter.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and MGM join hands to organize the “Youth Hospitality Activities - Macao Tourism Courtesy Short Video Contest” (referred to as the “Contest”). Macao residents who are studying in school and aged between 15 and 35 are welcome to produce creative video entries for the Contest. Applications open on 1 August and close on 25 September 2024.


FSS Begins Accepting Fund Withdrawal Applications for Special Allocation from Budget Surplus 2024 for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund

Starting today, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) began accepting fund withdrawal applications for Special Allocation from Budget Surplus 2024 for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund. Senior citizens registered for automatic withdrawal and meet the eligibility requirements for automatic payment need not go through any formalities. Other people eligible for fund withdrawal can apply through channels such as the "Macao One Account".


36th Macao International Music Festival offers a star-studded musical feast

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 36th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) will be held from 4 October to 4 November. Themed “And the Stars Shine”, this edition of the MIMF will feature 12 spectacular programmes and 16 outreach activities, gathering maestros and rising stars from the music scene to present a star-studded musical feast with timeless melodies.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 36th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) will present 16 outreach activities including masterclasses, talks, pre-show talks, backstage tours, workshops, community activities and film screenings, with the aim of enhancing musical dialogue and exchange in the community and bringing the public closer to music.



UM FLL delegation visits universities and judiciaries in Portuguese-speaking countries to strengthen cooperation

To leverage Macao’s role as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and respond to the national call for the cultivation of foreign-related legal talent, a delegation led by Tong Io Cheng, dean of the Faculty of Law (FLL) and director of the Centre for Judicial and Legal Studies of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries at the University of Macau (UM), visited renowned universities and law departments in Mozambique and Angola. During the visits, they studied international legal issues in depth and explored ways to empower international legal professional development programmes.


Other cobblestone road surface to be kept after widening of granite road in Avenida da Praia, Taipa to improve the comfort and safety of pedestrians

To facilitate the revitalisation project of “six areas”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) have launched the optimisation of the road sections in the pedestrian zone in Avenida da Praia, Taipa. The widening of the existing granite paved road will be carried out without altering the other existing cobblestone road surface in the pedestrian zone. Only the damaged cobblestones will be replaced. The optimisation work aims to improve the comfort and safety of the walking environment while preserving the characteristic appearance of the area.


IAM sets up 60 temporary collection points for large unwanted furniture items

To facilitate the public’s disposal of large unwanted furniture items, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will set up 60 temporary collection points for large unwanted furniture items in the different districts of Macao from 1 to 7 August. Out of the 60 temporary collection points, 50 are located in the Macao Peninsula, 6 are located in Taipa and 4 are located in Coloane. IAM urges the public to dispose of unwanted furniture items properly at the specified time period and locations to avoid affecting environmental hygiene, as well as pedestrian and traffic safety.
