MPU Students Gained Valuable Internship Experience at the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum Macao

Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) selected outstanding students to participate in internships at the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in order to expand Macau’s role as a Platform for Sino-Portuguese Cooperation and cultivate high-quality Sino-Portuguese bilingual talents with an international perspective. Nearly fifty students from MPU’s master’s degree program in Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpreting, the bachelor’s degree program in Chinese-Portuguese/Portuguese-Chinese Translation and Interpretation, and the bachelor’s degree program in Sino-Lusophone Trade Relations took part in the Ministerial Conference. They provided translation services, assisted delegates, and showcased strong bilingual Chinese-Portuguese communication skills, in-depth knowledge of China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and a hospitable service attitude. Their performance received high praise from conference guests representing delegations of the Portuguese-speaking countries.


Chinese Government Friendship Award recipient discusses the future of BRICS countries at MPU

Against the backdrop of the double celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the return of Macao to China and on the eve of the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Faculty of Languages and Translation, Portuguese Teaching and Research Center, and International Portuguese Training Center of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) co-organized the “China-Portugal New Perspectives Workshop: 50 Years of China-Brazil Relations and the Future of BRICS Countries”. Given by Evandro Menezes de Carvalho, a recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and a Senior Visiting Professor at Peking University, the academic lecture focused on reviewing the friendship between China and Brazil and the development prospect of BRICS countries. The lecture attracted many students, professors and Portuguese-speaking scholars, creating a lively atmosphere.


2023 Annual Report of the CCAC of Macao published in Official Gazette

The 2023 Annual Report of the Commission Against Corruption of Macao was published in the Official Gazette of the Macao Special Administrative Region today (12th June). According to the report, the CCAC proactively seized the opportunities in the wake of the revival after the epidemic and sought improvement in corruption fighting, ombudsman actions and promotion and education. The CCAC placed a total of 249 cases on file in 2023, including 102 corruption cases, 123 ombudsman cases and 24 mutual assistance cases placed on file at the request of law-enforcement agencies outside the region. In addition, there were a total of 387 cases which were archived or were referred to competent departments for follow-up for the reason that they did not meet the conditions to be placed on file.




CE meets Portugal Minister of Justice to strengthen ties

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, met with the Minister of Justice of the Portuguese Republic, Ms Rita Alarcão Júdice. They exchanged views on promoting cooperation between Macao and Portugal in judicial and economics and trade matters.


Cultural Affairs Bureau continues to offer discounts on the purchase of the Review of Culture at its Online Book Shop

In order to promote the unique and rich history and culture of Macao, the Cultural Affairs Bureau Online Book Shop continues to offer readers 50% and 10% discounts on the purchase of the Review of Culture this year. The periodical published by the Cultural Affairs Bureau aims to propel academic exchanges between Macao and other regions, promoting cultural exchanges between the East and the West, and exploring the unique characteristics of Macao as well as the history complemented by Chinese and Western cultures. Currently, the publication implements a peer review system, and the Chinese edition has been included in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI).


Announcement of the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition schedule

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition is dedicated to the categories of Chinese and Western instruments. The provisional Competition schedule will be available from 10am on 12 June on the Macao Young Musicians Competition website at www.icm.gov.mo/CJMM and on the competition system.


MSAR Government thanks Central Government for supporting Macao’s participation in national aerospace development

The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government sincerely thanks the Central Government for the strong support and great care it has shown in terms of Macao’s participation in the nation’s aerospace development work. Macao has also issued its congratulations on the successful completion of the selection process regarding the fourth batch of astronaut candidates for the country’s crewed space flight programme.
