Macao Polytechnic University Holds 2024 Graduation Ceremony: 1000 Graduates Embark on New Journey

Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held the graduation ceremony of the academic year 2023/2024 today, June 7th, at 4 PM in the Multi-Sport Pavilion. The ceremony featured the raising of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem. A total of one thousand students graduated, including those receiving doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees. During the ceremony, honorary doctorate degrees were also awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to society and educational development. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U, who represented the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR and Chancellor of MPU, stated that MPU has more effectively utilized the academic and research strengths of Macao's higher education institutions in major initiatives such as promoting the moderate diversification of Macao's economy, constructing the Greater Bay Area's technology and innovation corridor, and developing the Portuguese Language Education Alliance in the Greater Bay Area.


1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival leads children and families to embrace arts

Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival will be held from July to August. The event is divided into nine sections, featuring a total of 45 performances and activities in over 1,000 sessions, including world-class performing arts, a Broadway musical, an art exhibition, a film festival, large outdoor installations, art camps, masterclasses, workshops and an art carnival, which are centred at the Macao Cultural Centre and surrounding areas. A variety of diverse activities will be launched, brightening up children in their childhood with culture and arts, encouraging families and children to get close to the arts and from diverse perspectives using all their senses, and presenting a new performing arts festival.


Macao Cultural Centre Plaza will be transformed into a MICAF elf wonderland

In order to further enhance the atmosphere of the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, a range of outdoor art installations themed around the Festival’s mascots MICAF elves will be set up at the Cultural Centre Plaza. Relevant leisure facilities and splash sprinklers will be available onsite. Families and children are welcome to visit and play with MICAF elves at the plaza this summer.


WTT Champions Macao 2024 to be held in September

WTT Champions Macao 2024 will be held from 9 to 15 September at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. Elite players including 32 male and 32 female players will gather in Macao to bring exciting games to fans.




Cultural Affairs Bureau receives donation of works from participating entities and artists in “Art Macao”

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) received a total of six artworks featured in “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023” which were donated by participating entities and artists. IC thanks the donors for their support of Macao’s cultural undertakings and affirms that the generous act of donation helps to enrich the collections of local museums.


Transition period for certification of veterinary professional accreditation to end by the end of this month, for which members of the sector are urged to register as soon as possible

Law No. 4/2023 “Law on Veterinary Clinical Care and Commercial Activity of Animals” came into effect on 1 April 2024, stipulating that individuals engaged in the profession of veterinary surgeon in Macao must apply for certification of veterinary professional accreditation and registration of veterinary surgeons. Among them, the transition period for certification of accreditation is about to end on 28 June 2024. The Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals (CPMV) urges professionals who meet the requirements of the transitional regime but have not yet certified their accreditations to submit applications as soon as possible.


[Global Exhibitions Day] IPIM and the Industry Jointly Organise a Series of International Professional Exhibition and Convention Courses to Cultivate Talents

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), in response to industry development trends and industry needs, has continuously organised targeted training courses on various exhibition and convention-related topics. From January this year to now, it has coordinated and held six training courses. At the same time, under the “MICE Bidding and Support Team” mechanism, multiple professional exhibition and convention certification courses organised by international exhibition organisations will be held in Macao from June to December this year. Four professional exhibition and convention training courses organised by international exhibition organisations, covering areas such as venue management and project bidding strategies that cater to the needs of the local industry, have been successfully introduced. In addition, government departments and the industry have also launched various practical exhibition and convention training programmes. Through talent cultivation, it further promotes the industry’s transition from undertaking projects to attracting more international professional exhibition and convention projects to be hosted in Macao, thereby promoting the professionalisation and internationalisation of Macao's exhibition and convention industry.
