Extension of the registration period for the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition

Due to the technical problems, the registration for the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), which deadline was at 4pm on 6 May, were extended to 8pm on 7 May. [Expanding PSCs’ Market] IPIM Organises Macao Entrepreneurs to Join the 40th Portuguese Agricultural Fair OVIBEJA

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation of 15 entrepreneurs from Macao to participate in the 40th Portuguese agricultural fair OVIBEJA in Beja, Portugal from 28 April to 4 May. At the Fair, nearly 40 business matching sessions were conducted between the delegation members and the local exhibitors.



Monetary and financial statistics – March 2024

According to statistics released today (6 May) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply retreated in March. On the other hand, resident deposits remained stable from a month ago whereas loans to residents posted an increase.


Company statistics for the 1st quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the number of newly incorporated companies rose by 12 quarter-on-quarter to 1,117 in the first quarter of 2024; meanwhile, number of companies in dissolution decreased by 3 to 228. Number of companies showed a net increase of 889. Among the newly incorporated companies, 372 were operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade and 339 in Business Services. Total value of registered capital of the new companies fell by 15.0% quarter-on-quarter to MOP203 million, of which capital of those engaged in Research, Development & Sale of High-Tech Products and Provision of Information Technology Services totalled MOP47 million (23.0% of total).



Booking for rental service of integrated activity room of Civic Education Resource Centre available on Business & Associations Platform

The integrated activity room of the Civic Education Resource Centre managed by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) is now available for rental and the public can make their bookings through the Business & Associations Platform. Any association, school, public or private organisation officially registered in Macao can make application and pay the fee using electronic payment after the application has been approved.


IAM visits local associations to promote disaster prevention and mitigation work with joint efforts

As Macao is about to enter the typhoon season, in order to cope with the environmental hygiene conditions possibly brought about by typhoons or storm surges, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has formulated a series of prevention measures and emergency plans. Moreover, collaboration has been made with associations in low-lying areas to establish a close communication and coordination mechanism, promoting disaster prevention and mitigation work with joint efforts.


Newly revised “Standards for the Use of Food Additives in Food” has come into force for food sector to operate in compliance with the law

Into force since 1 May this year, the Administrative Regulation No. 5/2024 “Standards for the Use of Food Additives in Food” integrates and updates the previous standards for the use of food additives, expanding the coverage to more types and the scope of regulation to further ensure food safety in Macao. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will continue to carry out regular inspections of random food samples and daily food safety inspections. If any test results fail to meet food safety standards, or the production and operation of such food violate the “Food Safety Law”, IAM will handle the cases in accordance with the law.
