Courses About Health Cultivation of Traditional Chinese Medicine by the Centre for Continuing Education of Macao Polytechnic University are Open for Application Now

The traditional Chinese medicine and health industry is one of the four pillar industries promoted by the Macao SAR government. In order to popularize the understanding and application of health cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine, the Centre for Continuing Education of Macao Polytechnic University is now offering the following courses in this area: “Traditional Chinese Medicine and Health Management”, “Health Cultivation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pain Management”, and “Applying Traditional Chinese Medicine in Comprehensive Conditioning”. These courses will be taught by a Macao registered Chinese medicine practitioner and applications by interested individuals are welcome.


Airport fuel farm exercise was deemed successful

Macau International Airport held the Exercise “Fire in Fuel Farm” – 2024 this afternoon, simulating a scenario where a fire broke out in the airport fuel farm and the emergency rescue operations were carried out successfully.


Residential property price index for January – March 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index was 226.5 in the first quarter of 2024, down by 3.2% quarter-on-quarter; the indices for the Macao Peninsula (225.3) and Taipa & Coloane (231.2) dropped by 3.5% and 1.8% respectively. The index for existing residential units (244.1) decreased by 3.3% from the previous quarter; the indices for those in the Macao Peninsula (234.6) and Taipa & Coloane (282.1) dipped by 3.1% and 3.6% respectively. Meanwhile, the index for pre-sale residential units (261.6) rose by 0.3% quarter-on-quarter.


Mobile payment and payment card statistics – 1st Quarter 2024

According to statistics released today (8 May) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, in the first quarter of 2024, the number and the value of transactions of local mobile payment tools both increased on a quarterly basis. On the other hand, the credit card turnover decreased whereas the debit card turnover witnessed growth.

[Single-day hotel occupancy rate peaks at 95% over Labor Day holiday] Total visitor arrivals exceed 600,000 with 23.2% year-on-year surge in average daily volume

Spanning five days (1 – 5 May 2024), the 1st May Labor Day holiday has come to an end in the Mainland. Preliminary statistics show that Macao recorded about 605,000 visitor arrivals in total. The average daily volume of visitors increased year-on-year by 23.2% compared with the Labor Day holiday of last year (2023). The average hotel occupancy rate topped about 89.2%.

Exhibition “Integration of Art between China and the West in the 18th-19th Centuries” opens at the Macao Museum of Art on Friday showcasing the “Greater Bay Area epoch” created by Chinese and foreign artists

Under the patronage of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government and organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) of IC and the Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou Luxun Museum), with the support of the Hong Kong Museum of Art under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the large-scale exhibition “Focus: Integration of Art between China and the West in the 18th-19th Centuries” will be inaugurated on Friday (10 May), at 6:30pm, on the 4th floor of MAM. Through three different perspectives—painting styles, painting skills and painting materials, the exhibition fully showcases the visual dialogue and integration between China and the West, brought about by Chinese and foreign artists in the Pearl River Delta area during the 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibition is a programme integrated in the 34th Macao Arts Festival, and is open to the public.
