Consumer price index (CPI) for September 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for September 2024 rose by 0.59% year-on-year but decreased by 0.09% month-on-month. For the 12 months ended September this year, the average Composite CPI grew by 0.98% from the previous period (October 2022 - September 2023).

Over 10 trails and nature educational facilities managed by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) are distributed in the various districts of Macao to promote the concepts of ecological harmony and conservation to the public. These are good places for parents and children to experience and learn about nature outdoors together during the holidays. The public can choose suitable countryside locations according to their own preferences and abilities. They should assess the route and prepare the suitable gear before they go on their trip, pay attention to safety and respect and cherish the ecological environment while they enjoy nature.


IAM announces results of routine food surveillance for third quarter with over 99% pass rate

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continuously carries out food safety monitoring and sampling tests to assess the consumption risks and hygiene conditions of food products available on the market. In the third quarter this year, a total of 677 food samples were randomly collected from the market in Macao for testing, with an overall pass rate of 99.4%.


Employment survey for the 3rd quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (1.7%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.3%) in the third quarter of 2024 remained unchanged from the second quarter. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate (1.1%) decreased by 0.4 percentage points.

Government Headquarters open to the public this weekend

This year’s Government Headquarters Open Day sessions will be held during the coming weekend (26 and 27 October), from 9am to 6pm.


The 2024 GEG Lusofonia Festival will begin this Friday, October 25th, promoting Lusophone culture for six days

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Galaxy Entertainment Group, and Co-organized by the Macao Government Tourist Office and the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the 2024 GEG Lusofonia Festival takes place from 25 to 27 October, and from 1 to 3 November at the Taipa Houses. For the first time, this year, the Lusofonia Festival was extended for two weekends to give residents and tourists a deeper knowledge of the traditions, customs and unique culture of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions.


CAS academician to give talk at UM on mathematics and modern technology

The University of Macau (UM) will hold a talk titled ‘Mathematics and Modern Technology’ on 28 October (Monday) as part of its University Lecture Series. Tang Tao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), will be the speaker. During the talk, Prof Tang will discuss the pivotal role of mathematics in technological innovation. All are welcome to attend.
