“Exhibition of the Legacy of Zheng Guanying” inaugurated today

In order to promote the deeds and contributions of Zheng Guanying, a Chinese thinker in modern China, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) hosts the “Exhibition of the Legacy of Zheng Guanying” at the Zheng Guanying Memorial Museum. The opening ceremony was held today (27 September) and was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man; the Deputy Director of the Division of Culture and Sports of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Bai Bing; the descendant of Zheng’s family, Cheang Pui I; the Director of the Zhongshan Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, Huang Jianmin; the Deputy Director of the Shanghai Audio Visual Archives, Shen Xiaoyu; the University Librarian of the University of Macau Library, Wu Jianzhong; and the Director of the Zheng Guanying Research Centre of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Lin Guangzhi. Other guests including the descendant of Zheng’s family, Cheang Pui San, and the Director of Zhongshan Museum, Yu Zilong, also attended the opening ceremony. Congratulatory letters from the Shanghai Library and Zhu Biheng, the wife of Zheng Guanying’s great grandchild Zheng Kelu, were also read during the opening ceremony.


35th Macao Arts Festival calls for proposals for local programmes

The 35th Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be held in April and May 2025. Over the years, the MAF has striven to promote the development of local arts and provide a platform for performing arts and artistic exchange. IC is now inviting all registered local art and cultural associations and individuals to submit proposals for local programmes by 31 October 2024.



UM vice rector attends Sino-US University Presidents’ Dialogue and visits US universities

Xu Jian, vice rector of the University of Macau (UM), led a delegation to the US for exchanges. During the visit, Xu attended the Sino-US University Presidents’ Dialogue and visited renowned universities in the US to promote academic collaboration between Chinese and US institutions.




Jack and the Beanstalk Magic puppetry above the clouds

The Cultural Affairs Bureau presents Jack and the Beanstalk, a musical adventure for young audiences, travelling all the way from Japan to light-up CCM’s Grand Auditorium this winter season, in three shows running from 13 to 15 December (Friday to Sunday).


Results of industrial survey 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 861 establishments operating in industrial related activities in Macao (covering Electricity, Gas & Water Supply and Manufacturing) in 2023, down by 30 year-on-year. Meanwhile, total number of persons engaged rose by 306 to 10,925. Receipts and Expenditure of these establishments amounted to MOP12.11 billion and MOP8.25 billion respectively in 2023, up by 15% and 6.6% year-on-year. Gross Surplus increased by 38.5% year-on-year to MOP3.86 billion. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy went up by 23.1% to MOP5.97 billion, while Gross Fixed Capital Formation declined by 31% to MOP200 million.


Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “World Post Day – UPU”

To celebrate the World Post Day instituted by the Universal Postal Union, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at the Philatelic Shops of the General Post Office and the Communications Museum on 9th October 2024, to provide commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Post Day - UPU”. Opening hours are as follows:


【Collaborative marketing】Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao tourism offices promote multi-destination travel to Greater Bay Area in Indonesia

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) jointly held an overseas tourism promotional event for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, namely “Greater Bay Area – Connecting Great Experiences”, in Indonesia yesterday (26 September). The event introduced new fun attractions and facilitated tourism operators’ launch of innovative multi-destination products, in a collaborative effort to brand the Greater Bay Area as one great destination and expand international visitor markets.
