Number bib collection for the 2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon to start tomorrow; Marathon Carnival to be held this weekend to elevate atmosphere.

Organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, the 2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon will take place on 3 December (Sunday). Participants can collect their number bib from tomorrow (29 November). In addition, the ‘2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival’ will be held on 2 and 3 December for participants, residents and tourists to experience the vibrant and joyful atmosphere of the Marathon.


Positive response on first day of sale of Macau New Neighbourhood Over 500 applications as of 3 p.m.

The sale of residential units at Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) began on 28 November at 9 a.m. met with great enthusiasm, attracting people queuing up in an orderly manner. As of 3 p.m., over 500 applications were received at the sales centres and through online application on the first day of application.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for October 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 137 hotel establishments offered accommodation services to the public in October 2023, an increase of 19 year-on-year. Total number of available guest rooms grew by 24.8% to 46,000. The average occupancy rate of guest rooms hiked by 41.1 percentage points year-on-year to 82.8%; the rates for 5-star (85.6%) and 2-star hotels (83.1%) both exceeded 80%, surging by 45.4 percentage points and 33.7 percentage points respectively.

This phenomenon is accelerating the development of the “industry + exhibition” new mode and provide new possibilities for the integration of Macao’s cultural, tourism, sports, and exhibition resources.





UM students honoured with award at international competition on genetic engineering

A team of undergraduate students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau (UM) participated in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition 2023 held in Paris. The UM team competed with teams from the world’s top universities and won a silver medal for their research on alleviating the symptoms of coeliac disease. This marks the fifth consecutive year that UM has received an award in the iGEM competition, an international competition on synthetic biology.


MPU Organises Hospitality and Tourism Education Symposium – Synergetic Effect of Education+Culture Tourism

In order to engender the destination branding of Macau as a world tourism leisure center, to promote Macao as a cultural exchange base in which Chinese culture is the focal point while other cultures co-exist, as well as to activate the synergetic effect induced by the combination of education and cultural tourism, an international symposium entitled, “Hospitality and Tourism Education Symposium: Forward Looking into Hospitality and Tourism Education - Prospects and Challenges” was organized by the Macao Polytechnic University. It was co-organized by the Cultural Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, and supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education. The symposium took place from November 23 to 24 at the Macau Polytechnic University; scholars and experts from around the world in the fields of sports, leisure, cultural tourism, and education attended the symposium to explore the future development of cultural tourism and tourism education.
