Stall vendors in Red Market to resume business on 30 May as smooth progress was made on relocation

The reorganisation works of Red Market (Red Market) have been completed on time. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has continuously communicated with the stall vendors of Red Market and the various items of relocation work have been carried out in an orderly manner. According to the current progress, about 120 stall vendors will be arranged to relocate back to Red Market on 28 and 29 May and reopen their business to the public on 30 May. Furthermore, the hawkers surrounding the exterior of the Red Market will resume their business in the direction of “facing away from shops and facing the Red Market” and resume operation in their original locations in late May.



MPU Organizes Hippo “English Without Boarders” Olympiad (China National Finals)

To support the development of Macao as a base for international examinations and language training and to implement the “Education + Tourism” project, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), in collaboration with the Global Hippo Association and ASDAN China, co-organized the Hippo “English Without Boarders” Olympiad (China National Finals). This three-day competition took place at MPU and attracted students and parents from all provinces and cities across the country to participate in Macao, driving the joint development of education and tourism with outstanding results.


Survey on manpower needs and wages for the 1st quarter of 2024 – Financial activities

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 8,565 full-time employees in Financial Activities at the end of the first quarter of 2024. Among them, 7,246 were in the Banking Sector, 812 in Insurance Activities and 297 in Other Financial Intermediation (e.g. payment service institutions, financial leasing companies), up by 0.8%, 0.9% and 14.2% respectively year-on-year.


[Expanding PSCs markets] IPIM Organises Macao Entrepreneurs to Join the Largest Supermarket Exhibition in South America, Facilitating Over 140 Business Matching Sessions

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation of 18 Macao entrepreneurs from the food and beverage sector to participate in the “APAS SHOW 2024”, in São Paulo, Brazil, from 11 to 17 May, the largest supermarket industry exhibition in South America, in order to explore new sources of Brazilian food and beverages. During the event, 140 business matching sessions were facilitated.


Heliport holds drill to test emergency response capacity

The Outer Harbour Heliport conducted a full scale exercise last night (20 May) to test and train the various participating units and personnel on their capacity to respond to emergency situations.



Registration for the “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” Activity Series is open

On the occasion of the “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” on 8 June, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will host a series of exciting activities. An array of thematic workshops dedicated to traditional Chinese culture will be held for people of different ages at various cultural facilities in Macao. The Guia Lighthouse, a World Heritage site, will be open to the public with free admission on 8 and 9 June, allowing the public to visit and appreciate the beautiful view from the top of the lighthouse. In addition, free experience sessions of the “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s” will be available at a designated period in June, in a bid to enhance the public’s knowledge of Macao’s cultural heritage.


Renowned architect Nuno Fontarra deciphers the design of the public architectural project

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the lecture “From Concept to Construction: Deciphering Mecanoo's Design Process” was held on 17 May in the Conference Room of the Macao Cultural Centre, where Nuno Fontarra, the lead architect of the architectural design team of the New Macao Central Library project and a partner of Mecanoo Architecten BV from the Netherlands, shared his architectural designs and the design process from the concept to the execution. The lecture was held in a lively atmosphere, drawing many industry professionals to participate and exchange ideas.


Upgraded version of the Macao activities website “Enjoy Macao” launched

In order to facilitate residents and tourists to plan their vacation and allow them to explore Macao’s diverse culture and abundant entertainment in depth through the participation of various intriguing activities, and have an immersive experience in the ambience as a “City of Performing Arts”, an upgraded version of the Macao activities website “Enjoy Macao”, a platform that integrates activity information launched by the Macao SAR Government, was launched from 16 May. Users can access information about Macao’s cultural activities, performances and exhibitions anytime and anywhere via its website www.enjoymacao.mo, mobile application (iOS / Android / apk), and WeChat mini programme.
