CE stresses the need to boost talent acquisition to support Macao’s economic diversification

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, stressed the Government was committed to its “1+4” development strategy for adequate economic diversification, allocating the qualified people required to move ahead such strategy, and creating a cornerstone for high-quality development.


CE calls for joint effort to boost community’s economy

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, stated the Government would review the effectiveness of collaborative efforts with business associations, namely efforts that were aimed at boosting consumption in the community. On the basis of balancing the economic development of tourist areas and residential areas in Macao, the Government would explore the possibility of launching further supportive measures.

The group stage of the ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2024 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and World Table Tennis Management Group Limited (WTMG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, continued today (16 April) at the Galaxy Arena.



Inaugural University of Macau & Bank of China Trophy UltiMater Entrepreneur Competition now open for applications

The University of Macau & Bank of China Trophy UltiMater Entrepreneur Competition, organised by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) of the University of Macau (UM), is now open for applications. Students currently enrolled in higher education institutions in Macao and Macao residents studying in higher education institutions outside Macao are welcome to participate in the competition in teams. The competition offers a total prize pool of more than MOP 110,000. The top three teams and the winning teams of the outstanding prizes will have the opportunity to be incubated at CIE and have access to incubation services valued at over MOP 150,000 in total.


“Fado Nights” concerts at Dom Pedro V Theatre New ticketing channel available

With the aim to enrich Macau’s cultural tourism and allow more people to experience the charm of fado music, the second edition of “Fado Nights” concerts, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) is held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from March 29 to May 5, at 7pm, at the Dom Pedro V Theatre, with a total of 18 performances. To make ticket acquisition easier for citizens and tourists, in addition to the Macau and Damai (Mainland China) Online Ticket Office, tickets are now on sale through the Cityline platform.In the second series of the “Fado Nights” concerts, Portuguese singers Francisco Moreira and Marta de Sousa were invited to perform a number of iconic fado songs solo and also as a duo, in order to enrich the content of the concert.


UM organises health sciences workshop to enhance secondary school teachers’ professional knowledge

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) organised a two-day workshop titled ‘Understanding Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine’ for more than 20 science teachers from Yuet Wah College. As part of FHS’s training programmes for in-service teachers, the workshop aimed to enhance the teachers’ professional knowledge and broaden their horizons.


UTM holds 2024 Career Day, exhibiting companies offer over 1,500 job vacancies

Macao University of Tourism (UTM) held 2024 Career Day on 16 April at Taipa Campus. A total of 65 organisations (including 3 from Guangdong and 1 from Hong Kong SAR) from various sectors set booths and provided over 1,500 job vacancies with job details and employment information, as well as the latest trend in the job market to UTM graduating students. The Career Day aimed to provide a direct communication platform among students and employers as well as to better prepare graduating students for successful job application later.

In line with the strategic positioning of Macao as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, Macao SAR government continues to leverage the advantages of the China-PSC platform to empower the development of “1+4” major industries by expanding the functions of the platform through different channels and methods, in order to achieve the appropriately diversified development for Macao’s economy.


[Expanding 1+4 MICE Talent Pool] Five MICE Training Sessions Organised by IPIM in the First Quarter Attracted over 240 Participants

Talent is one of the key factors for any industry to maintain competitiveness and sustainable development. In order to foster the professional and international development of Macao MICE industry, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) continues to hold training courses on the MICE market expansion, operational skills, industry accreditation and expertise to expand the MICE talent pool by cultivating new practitioners. In the first quarter of 2024, IPIM organised and co-ordinated five (5) MICE training courses, attracting over 240 participants to participate online and offline, including local and mainland MICE practitioners and people interested in launching into the industry.
