Hengqin-Macao Business Connect Enterprise Exchange Summit – Macao Business Environment Exchange Session Introducing Mainland Entrepreneurs to Macao’s Advantages
The “Hengqin-Macao Business Connect Enterprise Exchange Summit” is held for two consecutive days in Hengqin and Macao. The opening event on 8 June was held in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, focusing on promoting the policies of the Co-operation Zone. Today (9 June), the event continues in Macao with the “Hengqin-Macao Business Connect Enterprise Exchange Summit” – Macao Business Environment Exchange Session, and arranging field inspection, promoting Macao’s business environment and advantages to mainland entrepreneurs. The two-day event aims to facilitate each other’s new development patterns, drive high-quality development, promote the two-way exchanges between Macao and mainland enterprises, and demonstrate the synergistic effect of Macao and Hengqin joining hands to expand business opportunities for enterprises in both regions. Nearly 180 representatives from enterprises and industry associations in Macao, Hengqin, and cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area participated in the event.

IAM attaches importance to audit report and strengthens communication with other departments
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) attaches great importance to the Commission of Audit’s report on “Construction of the rainwater pumping station and box culvert drain in Northern Inner Harbour” and will actively improve communication with other public departments according to the suggestions in the audit report to jointly accomplish flood management and drainage work.

Mortgage loans statistics – April 2023
According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased month-on-month in April 2023. With regard to the outstanding balances, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed declines on a monthly basis.

Dog parks in Leisure Area on Taipa Waterfront to be temporarily closed due to works
To improve the issue of stagnant water on muddy ground at the entrances to the dog parks for large dogs and small dogs in the Leisure Area on Taipa Waterfront, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out works for paving stone slabs in the dog parks and lawn maintenance from 12 to 23 June, during which the dog parks will be temporarily closed. The public are advised to pay attention to the arrangement.

Security Secretary outlines three-pronged approach to combat fraud
The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, today said Macao’s crime-case statistics recorded by the police in the first quarter of 2023 were still at a level lower overall than in first-quarter 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. This was despite the latest figures showing a slight increase judged year-on-year.

Draw and technical meeting held for local races of 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races
Organised by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held on 17, 18 and 22 June at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. The Organizing Committee convened the draw and technical meeting for the local races today (20 May) at the office of the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China.

UM students join field trip to different cities in Greater Bay Area
The Communications Office of the University of Macau (UM) recently organised a three-day field trip for UM Reporters and PR Student Ambassadors to different cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), including Hengqin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. During the trip, the students visited universities, innovative tech companies, and media companies to learn more about their development and operation.

Brand Logo – “MICE² MACAO x HENGQIN” Makes Debut! Creating a New Brand of “Multi-Venue Event”
On 7 June, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Economic Development Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin jointly launched the brand logo “MICE² Macao x Hengqin” for “multi-venue event”. The launch ceremony was held at the Multi-functional Hall of the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The brand logo is released to better showcase the advantages of the Macao-Hengqin MICE platform to the international community, facilitate the synergistic development of MICE industry of the two places so as to provide concerted driving force for industrial development. The ceremony was attended by guests from the Macau Fair & Trade Association, Macao Convention & Exhibition Association, Association of Advertising Agents of Macau, Macau Federal Commercial Association of Convention & Exhibition Industry, as well as representatives of Macao’s MICE and tourism industries.

IAM introduces “mystery shoppers” for random food inspections to further monitor hygienic quality
In order to better manage food safety risks, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continues to adjust the methods and proportion for random food inspections in response to different factors such as consumption trends in the food and beverage market and social concerns. Currently, more than 3,000 random food samples from the local market are inspected annually. This year, IAM even introduced the “mystery shopper” sampling method to obtain samples of food and beverage products and ready-to-eat food products for inspection through regular consumption and shopping. So far, more than 250 random samples have been inspected through this method to better understand the hygienic quality of the food sold in the market, so as to grasp and eliminate risks more promptly.
