IPIM Organises 19 Macao Enterprises to Participate in the Canton Fair to Build the Partnership with International Buyers
The third phase of the “137th China Import and Export Fair” (“Canton Fair”) recently culminated in a successful conclusion. The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region organised 19 Macao enterprises to participate in this five-day event and set up a 180-square-metre Macao Pavilion to showcase signature products from Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries, including souvenirs, wines, juices, sauces, coffee, and health food, drawing the interest of many international buyers from various countries and regions.

City beautification and sanitation working group visited over 100 “three no’s” buildings to encourage residents to actively improve hygiene of buildings
The environmental hygiene task force under the city beautification and sanitation working group strengthens the educational and inspection work in “three no’s” buildings in Macao. As members of the task force, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Health Bureau visited “three no’s” buildings in multiple districts in Macao jointly with representatives from associations during the citywide cleanup campaign held from April to May. They educated residents about environmental hygiene and encouraged owners to improve the environmental hygiene conditions in the public areas of the buildings, so as to maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the community environment.

The First Procurement Oriented Matching Session Held by IPIM and an Integrated Resort Facilitates Over 100 Negotiations Involving 140 Macao SMEs
Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (“IPIM”) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) jointly held the “GEG SME X IPIM Enterprises Expansion Series: Business Matching Session for Products and Food from Macao Enterprises” at the Galaxy Macau™ Integrated Resort on 6 May, which drew the participation of approximately 140 Macao SMEs. Among them, 25 SMEs set up their booths to showcase their products and around 110 enterprises joined the business matching activity. Over 100 business matching talks took place at the event, promoting “Made in Macao”, “Macao Brand” and “Products with Macao Agent”, and products from Portuguese and Spanish-speaking countries, to the GEG procurement department and other relevant departments.

“Parallel Worlds, Exhibition from Macao, China: 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia” officially opens in Italy
The “Parallel Worlds, Exhibition from Macao, China: 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia” officially opened on 8 May 2025 in Venice, Italy. The exhibition, jointly curated by internationally renowned architects Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, showcases the coexistence of “parallel worlds” of Macao through the urban landscape photographs captured by renowned architectural photographer Iwan Baan and installations created by professors and students from the School of Architecture in the China Academy of Art and the Department of Architecture and Design at the University of Saint Joseph in Macao. These presentations highlight the urban texture of Macao, where Chinese and Western cultures coexist, and past and present landscapes have endured for over 400 years.

UM Faculty of Health Sciences holds science outreach activity ‘The Pursuit of Research’
To enhance Macao secondary school students’ interest in and understanding of health sciences, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) held the ninth session of its science outreach activity, ‘The Pursuit of Research’. About 40 students from seven local secondary schools participated, gaining hands-on research experience and discovering the excitement of scientific research.

CTT urges mobile telecom operators to properly perform the 3G network shutdown
In coordination with the development of Macao’s telecommunications sector, the MSAR Government extended the 3G licences of Macao’s four mobile telecommunications operators for 2 years in 2022. Those licences will expire on 4 June 2025. This means Macao’s 3G mobile telecommunications network and services will cease upon the expiry of the licences. For proper preparation, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) held multiple meetings with the operators, and urged them to establish plans to ensure the successful migration of 3G users to 4G or 5G service. The operators have stepped up their marketing efforts, publicized their 3G shutdown information on radio, dedicated webpage, and social media, as well as reminding users via SMS to check the standard of their handset or device.

UM, Nanjing University launch dual degree programme to cultivate physics and chemistry specialists
The University of Macau (UM) and Nanjing University (NJU) have launched a ‘2.5+2’ dual bachelor’s degree programme (applied physics and chemistry—applied physics). Students who meet the graduation requirements of the programme will receive a bachelor’s degree from each of the universities. Through the integration of educational resources, UM and NJU aim to establish a high-level cross-regional academic platform to enhance students’ international competitiveness and cultivate specialists in applied physics and chemistry for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the country.
