World's Leading Linguist Delivers Lecture on Innovative English Teaching at Macao Polytechnic University
To promote international higher education exchange and cooperation in Macao, the Faculty of Languages and Translation of the Macao Polytechnic University invited world-renowned applied linguist Ken Hyland to deliver a fascinating academic lecture on "Innovative English Teaching: Arguments for Specific Courses". The event attracted a total of 400 participants from various universities in Macao and the Greater Bay Area, both online and offline. Professor Hyland engaged in friendly interactions and in-depth discussions with the attending faculty and students, generating enthusiastic responses.

The two-day 2024 UFI Asia Pacific Conference was held in Macao from 7 to 8 March. 2024 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races to be held from 8 to 10 June
Organized by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM) and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China (DBAMC), and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the 2024 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held from 8 to 10 June at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre.

Photography exhibition “Epic Gaze” at Macao Museum of Art extended and more educational photography activities to be launched
Organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the photography exhibition “Candida Höfer: Epic Gaze”, has gained popularity among residents and tourists and has received high acclaim among photography enthusiasts since its opening late last year. In order to allow more members of the public to appreciate the first-class photographic works, the exhibition has been extended until 19 May 2024.

Cultural Affairs Bureau sets up pavilion at Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) to promote Macao’s productions and services
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has set up the Macao Pavilion at this year’s Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART). IC has cooperated with various departments and public broadcasting entities to organise for local film and television industry practitioners to participate in the event in Hong Kong, with a view to extending the international reach of local productions and services overseas, constructing a platform for exchange and cooperation, and creating more development opportunities.

Applications for the Macao Creative Pavilion in the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair are now open
The 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) will be held in Shenzhen in late May 2024. The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will organise for Macao’s cultural and creative industries to participate in the exhibition and set up a “Macao Creative Pavilion” to promote Macao’s cultural and creative products and services, so as to facilitate exchanges and development of the industries. The application period for the exhibition is from now until 18 March. Local companies involved in film and television production and video technology are welcome to submit their applications.

Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals pushes forward professional accreditation of veterinary surgeons in accordance with the law
Law No. 4/2023 “Law on Veterinary Clinical Care and Commercial Activity of Animals” will come into effect on 1 April, establishing the regime of veterinary professional accreditation and the regime of licensing and supervision of establishments of veterinary clinical care, breeding, sale or boarding of animals. Currently, the Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals has orderly developed the relevant conditions for certification of accreditation and the code of professional ethics. Besides, the council provides professional opinions on the relevant list of medicines, guidelines on business activities, technical requirements for installation of establishments, etc. and monitors the practice and discipline of local veterinary surgeons in accordance with the law, so as to promote the development of veterinary clinical care and commercial activities of animals in Macao and reinforce animal protection and public health protection.
