UM students join exchange trip to Peking University

To cultivate students’ love for China and Macao and strengthen communication between universities in Macao and Beijing, Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) of the University of Macau (UM) recently arranged for its teachers and students to visit Peking University on a seven-day exchange trip. The trip was themed ‘A Historical and Cultural Journey to Beijing’, where CYTC members attended lessons with members of Yuanpei College at Peking University and visited scenic spots and historical sites to gain a better understanding of Chinese history and culture.



Promote Macao's glamorous status — Delegates of 23 Cities of Gastronomy from worldwide gather in Macao for deeper collaboration

Since Macao lifted travel restrictions, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has been progressively restarting various international collaborations and exchange. This year, MGTO once again invites the representatives and chefs from 23 UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy including Macao for familiarization, exchange and culinary demonstrations to the public. They are also invited to participate in the City of Gastronomy Meeting and visit local wet markets, distinctive bazaars and tourist attractions, leveraging Macao as a platform to foster preservation, innovation and exchange between Creative Cities of Gastronomy as well as their sustainable development.


UM holds science popularisation talks to broaden high school students’ horizons in science

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), Associate Professor Tam Kin Yip and Research Assistant Professor Li Bei in the FHS gave talks on ‘Pharmaceutical Century – Ten Decades of Drug Discovery’ and ‘Body Chemistry Balance’, respectively, to over 300 students at Xin Hua School to enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizons in science.


UMHKAA gifts Alumni Grove to alma mater

The University of Macau (Hong Kong) Alumni Association (UMHKAA) recently presented the UMHKAA Alumni Grove to the University of Macau (UM) and an opening ceremony was held at the UM Sports Complex. The ceremony was officiated by Rector Yonghua Song and UMHKAA Chairman Joseph Tsui.


IAM invites experts to discuss food safety issues and promotes synergistic development of food markets in Greater Bay Area

In order to promote technical exchanges and cooperative development of Macao, the Mainland and Hong Kong in the area of food safety, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) held the “Experts Talks on 2023 World Food Safety Day and Food Safety” on 13 June, inviting representatives from food safety supervision authorities of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao to deliver keynote speeches on topics such as the application of food safety technology, the implementation of food safety standards, and the development of the food markets in the Greater Bay Area, and to have in-depth exchange of views with other attendants. More than 400 representatives from the local food sector, related associations, academic institutions and government departments attended the event.


Navigate business opportunities in line with “1+4” development strategy — 11th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo will commence on 30 June

The 11th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) will take place at Halls A and B, Cotai Expo of the Venetian Macao from 30 June – 2 July 2023. IAM holds food sector exchange meetings for building a joint food safety system

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continues to step up communication and exchange of views with the food sector. On the occasion of the World Food Safety Day, IAM held two exchange meetings for the local food sector on 12 June, inviting more than 320 representatives from the local hospitality sector, food and beverage sector, chambers of commerce of food import suppliers and relevant sectors to attend. During the meetings, attendants exchanged views on topics such as effective implementation of guidelines on food safety operation and prevention of foodborne diseases, so as to promote the improvement of the internal food safety management system in the sector, and to jointly maintain the image of Macao as a “Creative City of Gastronomy”.
