UM students join field trip to different cities in Greater Bay Area

The Communications Office of the University of Macau (UM) recently organised a three-day field trip for UM Reporters and PR Student Ambassadors to different cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), including Hengqin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. During the trip, the students visited universities, innovative tech companies, and media companies to learn more about their development and operation.


Brand Logo – “MICE² MACAO x HENGQIN” Makes Debut! Creating a New Brand of “Multi-Venue Event”

On 7 June, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Economic Development Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin jointly launched the brand logo “MICE² Macao x Hengqin” for “multi-venue event”. The launch ceremony was held at the Multi-functional Hall of the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The brand logo is released to better showcase the advantages of the Macao-Hengqin MICE platform to the international community, facilitate the synergistic development of MICE industry of the two places so as to provide concerted driving force for industrial development. The ceremony was attended by guests from the Macau Fair & Trade Association, Macao Convention & Exhibition Association, Association of Advertising Agents of Macau, Macau Federal Commercial Association of Convention & Exhibition Industry, as well as representatives of Macao’s MICE and tourism industries.


IAM introduces “mystery shoppers” for random food inspections to further monitor hygienic quality

In order to better manage food safety risks, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continues to adjust the methods and proportion for random food inspections in response to different factors such as consumption trends in the food and beverage market and social concerns. Currently, more than 3,000 random food samples from the local market are inspected annually. This year, IAM even introduced the “mystery shopper” sampling method to obtain samples of food and beverage products and ready-to-eat food products for inspection through regular consumption and shopping. So far, more than 250 random samples have been inspected through this method to better understand the hygienic quality of the food sold in the market, so as to grasp and eliminate risks more promptly.



Residential property price index for February – April 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for February - April 2023 increased by 0.9% over the previous period (January - March 2023) to 251.2. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (249.9) and Taipa & Coloane (256.6) rose by 0.8% and 1.1% respectively.



IFTM hosts the 8th Tourism Education Student Summit

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) collaborates with Sands China Ltd. in hosting the 8th annual Tourism Education Student Summit event 2023 on 7 June at The Londoner Macao. This full-day event is an opportunity for graduating students to share their research findings with industry leaders and the community at large. This year, the event also invites students from the Greater Bay Area to participate.




Macao Creative Pavilion participates in China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair promoting Macao’s cultural and creative brands to the Greater Bay Area

The 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) is held from 7 to 11 June 2023. The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government has arranged for Macao’s cultural and creative entities to participate in the ICIF. Through the establishment of the “Macao Creative Pavilion”, IC endeavours to lead the industries to explore business opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and facilitate industrial exchanges.
