Xia Baolong arrives in Macao for six-day inspection tour

The Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Mr Xia Baolong, arrived in Macao for a six-day inspection tour.



UM, Nanjing University launch dual degree programme to cultivate physics and chemistry specialists

The University of Macau (UM) and Nanjing University (NJU) have launched a ‘2.5+2’ dual bachelor’s degree programme (applied physics and chemistry—applied physics). Students who meet the graduation requirements of the programme will receive a bachelor’s degree from each of the universities. Through the integration of educational resources, UM and NJU aim to establish a high-level cross-regional academic platform to enhance students’ international competitiveness and cultivate specialists in applied physics and chemistry for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the country.



Due to the maintenance of the information system of the Public Library some services will be temporarily suspended on 12 May

In order to ensure the proper operation of its information technology, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will carry out maintenance works on the information system of the Public Library from 9am to 1pm on 12 May (Monday). During this period, the library catalogue search system on the Macao Public Library website will be suspended or affected. The mobile application “My Library” and the relevant functions of the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau in the “Macao One Account” will operate as usual.




Airport successfully conducted “2025 Airport Fuel Farm Exercise”

On 7 May 2025, at 2:30pm, the "2025 Airport Fuel Farm Exercise” simulated a fire caused by static electricity in the fuel farm facilities and carried out a series of emergency rescue operations to test and evaluate the airport's emergency response capabilities. The exercise aimed to ensure rapid and effective coordination among entities to safeguard airport personnel and property.


Residential property price index for January – March 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index was 202.4 in the first quarter of 2025, down by 2.1% quarter-on-quarter. The index for existing residential units (221.7) decreased by 0.7% from the previous quarter; the index for those in Taipa & Coloane (267.2) reduced by 3.7% while the index for those in the Macao Peninsula (210.2) rose by 0.2%.


Mobile payment and payment card statistics – 1st Quarter 2025

According to statistics released today (7 May) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, in the first quarter of 2025, the number and the value of transactions of local mobile payment tools both witnessed annual growth. On the other hand, the credit card and the debit card turnover both decreased from the preceding year.
