MPU Collaborates with EU DG Interpreting to Celebrate International Translation Day 2023

The Faculty of Languages and Translation at Macao Polytechnic University recently organized a celebration for International Translation Day 2023, paying tribute to all language and translation professionals. In 2017, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 71/288, declaring 30 September as International Translation Day to recognize the role of translators in bridging nations. This year's theme for Translation Day was "Translation unveils the many faces of humanity," aiming to highlight the crucial role that translation plays in promoting global societal diversity. The celebration invited the participation of the European Commission Directorate-General for Interpretation (DG Interpreting) online, and students from the International Chinese Language Education program, as well as Chinese-Portuguese translation and Chinese-English translation programs, and announced the theme of International Translation Day in Chinese, Portuguese, and English. The event also featured various performances, creating a lively atmosphere.



[Cross-sector Collaboration of “Industry+MICE”] Two “Exhibitions within Exhibition” in 28th MIF Enhance Qualitative Development of Big Health and High-tech Industries

In line with the “1+4” development strategy for appropriate diversification, the 28th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (28th MIF) organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) continues to promote the growth of the big health and high-tech industries through “exhibitions within exhibition” for the third consecutive year.


Public tender for 15 market stalls and selection based on highest rankings in 5 items of assessment criteria

The public tender for 5 stalls in Horta da Mitra Market and 10 stalls in the Cooked Food Area of Patane Market commences today (18 October). The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out assessment of tender documents of participants based on 5 items of assessment criteria, including operation strategies, experience and qualification, daily business hours of stall, diversity of product categories, convenience of payment tools, etc. Those who are interested in participating in the public tender can submit the application form, tender proposal and other documents from today until 16 November by 5:00 p.m. IAM will hold three explanatory sessions on the public tender at Patane Activity Centre on 25 October. The public are welcome to enrol for participation.


15 stalls for public tender available for operation of light meals, cooked food, frozen aquatic products and others

In recent years, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has been actively optimising the markets in various districts in an orderly manner. Enhancement of the supporting facilities, optimisation of the overall management and improvement of the market business environment are made to provide the public with pleasant shopping experience. Among them, the reorganisation and optimisation works of Horta da Mitra Market and the Cooked Food Area on the second floor of Patane Market are expected to be completed within this year. To facilitate the reorganisation and optimisation works, IAM puts 15 stalls in the 2 markets out to public tender to invite stall tenants in accordance with the stipulations of “Public Market Management Regime”. The stalls are available for operation of 13 categories of merchandise or cuisines, and each tender participant can only submit a tender for a stall of one business category in a market.


Registration Opening for “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Application Training Program (2023)”

Organized by the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), collaborated with the Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) and the local mobile telecommunications operators, the “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Application Training Program (2023)” will be held on 25th November this year. The theme of this year's workshop is “Frontier Technologies and Applications of Mobile Communications”, Huawei's expert will introduce the trends and prospects of the mobile communications industry, the characteristics of next-generation communications technologies, and the innovative applications in the industry etc., so that local ICT professionals can understand industry trends and technological evolution, and continue to promote the innovative application of ICT in different fields.


UM rector leads delegation to visit top universities in South Korea and sign cooperation agreements

Yonghua Song, rector of the University of Macau (UM), recently led a delegation to visit several top universities in South Korea to expand the university’s international network and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other higher education institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. During the visits, a number of cooperation agreements were signed and discussions were held to explore joint training of innovative talent with international competitiveness.
