UM delegation visits top universities in Germany and Belgium to forge research and academic collaborations

A delegation from the University of Macau (UM), led by Rector Yonghua Song, recently visited the Technical University of Munich, Constructor University, and Leibniz University of Hannover in Germany, as well as KU Leuven in Belgium, to forge research and academic collaborations between UM and universities in Europe, in order to expand the university’s international network and exchange experience in higher education.



The 70th Macau Grand Prix – Family Carnival to be held in late April

The 70th Macau Grand Prix will be held in November this year. To give residents and tourists an early taste of the atmosphere of the Macau Grand Prix, the 70th Macau Grand Prix - Family Carnival will take place at the Coloane Karting Track for the first time on 29-30 April 2023.


[Bilateral Trade Boosted] Macao Entrepreneurs Explore New Development Opportunities in Porto

Led by Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Lei Wai Nong, the Macao Entrepreneur Delegation and representatives of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone continued the mission in Porto, Portugal on 21 and 22 April. They visited a local cork company and some of the “tourism +” projects, and held an exchanged activity to promote Macao-Hengqin area, enhancing bilateral economic co-operation.


Visitor arrivals for March 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals totalled 1,956,867 in March 2023, representing an upsurge of 271.4% year-on-year and a rise of 22.8% month-on-month. Overnight visitors (979,152) and same-day visitors (977,715) soared by 522.7% and 164.5% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors stayed at 1.2 days; the duration for overnight visitors (2.2 days) dropped by 1.4 days year-on-year, while that for same-day visitors (0.3 day) went up by 0.2 day.


Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong, Visits the Office for Personal Data Protection, Macao, to Strengthen Ties and Foster Collaboration

24 April 2023: The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong (PCPD) and the Office for Personal Data Protection, Macao (GPDP) held a meeting in Macao today(24 April) to strengthen their ties and discuss areas of closer cooperation in the protection of personal data. Senior officers of both offices also attended the meeting.


Judiciary Police again reminds the public to be vigilant of fake SMS messages from courier companies

Recently, the Judiciary Police (PJ) has again received reports from the public concerning fraudulent SMS messages from fake courier companies. Since the pandemic has caused interruptions in delivery services, fraudsters seize this opportunity to defraud the public by sending fake SMS messages, claiming that their parcels cannot be delivered, and ask them to log on to the linked website, provide personal information and pay a "surcharge".
