Tourism crisis assistance team completes first-phase assistance in Taichung

The tourism crisis assistance team (referred to as the “team”) joined Macau Red Cross personnel to arrive at Taichung, Taiwan Region on 13 February, where they strove to provide adequate assistance for the Macao family involved in the gas explosion incident there.

Private sector construction and real estate transactions for the whole year and the 4th quarter of 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 5,197 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in 2024 as per Stamp Duty record, an increase of 17.7% year-on-year. The total value of transactions was MOP28.04 billion, up by 20.7%. The overall average price per square metre of usable area of residential units (MOP85,114) dropped by 9% year-on-year. Number of residential units that were issued the licence of use was 640.

MICE statistics for the whole year and the 4th quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of MICE events rose by 31.4% (+364) year-on-year to 1,524 in 2024, of which those themed on “Commerce & Management” and “Tourism” increased by 140 and 78 respectively. Meanwhile, the total number of MICE participants & attendees fell by 17.1% year-on-year to 1,332,000, dragged down by a decrease in the number of exhibition attendees. MICE-driven receipts of the non-gaming industries in Macao were estimated at approximately MOP5.48 billion in 2024, down by 8.2% from 2023 (MOP5.97 billion, revised).

Promotional Session on the Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024-2035) held in Macao
Earlier this year, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council jointly issued the Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024-2035), which sets out a comprehensive and systematic roadmap for accelerating efforts to achieve the goal of building the nation into a leading country in education by 2035. At the invitation of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), a delegation from the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office (HKMAO) of the State Council, and the Ministry of Education (MOE), organised a visit to Macao and held a promotional session on the Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024-2035) at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries on 14 February, with Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan delivering a keynote speech to give representatives of various sectors in Macao a deeper understanding of the master plan.
