UM awards scholarships to nearly 400 outstanding students
The University of Macau (UM) today (30 November) held the Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2022. During the ceremony, the university presented scholarships and academic prizes to 390 students for their outstanding academic performance.

2022MIECF Green Matching Open for Registration
The “2022 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2022MIECF) will be held from 9 to 11 December. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will continue to assist enterprises in green transformation and development and in the expansion of environmental protection businesses, with Green Matching and other services scheduled for the event, in a bid to jointly promote the goals of “carbon neutrality” and “zero carbon emissions”.

The 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta will be held from 5 to 8 January
The 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Ursa Major Sailing Event Management, co-organized by the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, supported by Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau and title-sponsored by MGM, will be held from 5 to 8 January 2023. 37 teams will compete for the title of three championships.

Individuals in key areas should take 3 NATs in 5 days between 30 November and 4 December
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announces that, in response to the import-related cases found in Macao over the last few days, to eliminate the risk of infection for people who have had activities in the places visited by the reported cases, and to balance the impact to the society, only NAT drive will be carried out for the individuals in the key areas, and the testing drive will start today (30 November).

Arrangement of Outdoor Swimming Pools under Sports Bureau

Several outdoor public swimming pools under Sports Bureau (ID) such as Dr. Sun Yat Sen, Taipa Central Park, Cheoc Van and Hac Sa Park was closed on 31 October when the “bathing season” was over; Estoril, also known as San Fa Yuen, is closing on 30 November. During the off-season closure, ID will implement facilities and equipments maintenance at these outdoor swimming pools to enhance swimming environment for the public.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for October 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 118 hotel establishments offered accommodation services to the public in October 2022, an increase of 2 year-on-year; number of available guest rooms rose by 2.5% year-on-year to 37,000. Data on hotel establishments designated for medical observation and self-health monitoring were excluded in the compilation of the results. The average occupancy rate of guest rooms in October dropped by 3.0 percentage points year-on-year to 41.8%; the rates for 4-star hotels and 2-star hotels showed relatively large decreases of 20.0 percentage points and 18.6 percentage points respectively.

Transport and communications statistics for October 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 248,679 as at end-October 2022, up by 0.9% year-on-year; light automobiles (113,882) and heavy motorcycles (107,564) rose by 1.1% and 2.3% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in October dropped by 5.5% year-on-year to 853 (including 258 electric vehicles), with that of heavy motorcycles falling by 6.8% to 466 (110 of them were electric). From January to October 2022, new registration of motor vehicles decreased by 18.8% year-on-year to 8,276. Number of traffic accidents in October grew by 21.5% year-on-year to 1,080, with 383 persons injured. In the first ten months of 2022, there were 9,287 traffic accidents, which resulted in 5 deaths and 3,291 injuries.

UM sweeps top three prizes at Portuguese Speech Contest

People entering sports facilities of Sports Bureau are required to present negative result of rapid antigen test or nucleic acid test with 24 hour validity from 1 December
To cooperate with the anti-epidemic work of the Macao SAR, starting from tomorrow (1 December), all people entering sports facilities of Sports Bureau are required to present negative result of rapid antigen test of the day, or negative nucleic acid test result with 24 hour validity. In addition, individuals entering sports facilities are still required to wear masks, present "Macao Health Code", scan "Visit Record (Venue QR Code)" and check body temperature.
