New arrangement for expanding scope of raw materials of food products for export to Mainland China comes into force today
Cheong Weng Chon, Secretary for Administration and Justice of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Lv Weihong, Deputy Customs Commissioner-General of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), signed a newly revised “Memorandum on inspection, quarantine and veterinarian health requirements of meat products exported to Mainland from Macao” today (30 November). This memorandum further expands the scope of the source of raw materials of food exported to the Mainland, which aids Macao enterprises in developing the Mainland market by producing high-quality and diverse products and promoting appropriate diversified development of Macao industries.

IPIM Leads a Delegation to Attend the 1st CISCE to Seize Opportunities for International Co-operation in Industrial and Supply Chains
As the first national-level expo focus on supply chains in the globe, the First “China International Supply Chain Expo” (CISCE) was held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing from 28 November to 2 December. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation of 16 Macao entrepreneurs to attend the 1st CISCE and set up booths in the exhibition halls, whereby they introduced and promoted the business environment and preferential policies of Macao and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, advantages of Macao’s MICE industry, and a series of support services provided by IPIM, such as investment promotion measures, support for bidding MICE to be held in Macao, and the Commercial and Trade Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (China-PSCs Platform), to the participants including the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of key industries; small, medium and large enterprises; industry, academia, research and users, as well as domestic and international enterprises.

Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 30 June 2023
According to the statistics released today (30 November) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 30 June 2023, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP1,073.0 billion at current market value, representing an increase of 6.4% from end-2022 or 7.8% year-on-year. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP334.0 billion, MOP658.6 billion and MOP80.4 billion respectively. As compared with end-2022, the market values of equity securities and long-term debt securities rose by 4.0% and 10.4% respectively whereas that of short-term debt securities dropped by 10.9%.

Transport and communications statistics for October 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 250,743 as at end-October 2023, up by 0.8% year-on-year; both light automobiles (115,437) and heavy motorcycles (109,069) rose by 1.4%. New registration of motor vehicles in October fell by 0.9% year-on-year to 845 (229 were electric vehicles), of which light automobiles increased by 41.6% to 511 (129 of them were electric) while heavy motorcycles dropped by 40.3% to 278 (66 of them were electric). From January to October 2023, new registration of motor vehicles grew by 17.6% year-on-year to 9,730. Number of traffic accidents in October climbed by 9.7% year-on-year to 1,185, with 351 persons injured. In the first ten months of 2023, there were 11,099 traffic accidents, which resulted in 7 deaths and 3,814 injuries.

Commissioner Chan Tsz King Meets Director of Public Prosecutions of Hong Kong Yang Mei Kei
The Commissioner Against Corruption, Chan Tsz King, met with the Director of Public Prosecutions of Department of Justice of Hong Kong, Yang Mei Kei, who visited Macao today (30th November) at the headquarters of the CCAC where they exchanged views on the legal regimes relating to the investigation and prosecution of corruption crimes of the two places.

DSI extends online overseas assistance service to safeguard travel safety of Macao residents
With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) extends the online overseas assistance service to promptly respond to Macao residents who lost their Macao Special Administrative Region travel documents (hereinafter referred as “Macao SAR travel documents) overseas, so that they can return home safely.

UM students win first prize at international conference on sports science
Students in the Faculty of Education (FED) of the University of Macau (UM) won five awards at the 20th Annual Meeting of the Society of Chinese Scholars on Exercise Physiology and Fitness. The awards included two first prizes and a second prize for oral presentation, as well as a first prize and a second prize for poster presentation, making UM the most awarded delegation at this year’s conference. Their reports provide scientific support for different types of sports research and received positive feedback from the judges.
