The 2022 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, and title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group, will be held on 4 December. Participants may collect their bib from Sunday (27 November). In addition, an 8-day ‘2022 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival’ will be held from Sunday for participants, residents and tourists to experience the vibrant and joyful atmosphere of the Marathon.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will carry out construction works for an exhibition at the Ruins of St. Paul’s from 26 to 28 November (from Saturday to Monday). In order to ensure the public safety and meet the needs for construction, the monument’s site (including the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt) will be temporarily closed to the public during the aforementioned period.

UM establishes Department of Ocean Science and Technology
The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) today (24 November) held the first Hong Kong-Macao Ocean Forum and an inauguration ceremony for the Department of Ocean Science and Technology. A number of renowned experts and scholars joined the forum to exchange ideas on the theme of marine environmental safety and sustainable development, while the inauguration ceremony marked the official establishment of the Department of Marine Science and Technology at UM for promoting research in regional oceans in Macao and nurturing talent in this field.

Results of retail sales survey for 3rd quarter of 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, owing to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, value of retail sales for the third quarter of 2022 dropped by 30.3% year-on-year to MOP11.13 billion. After removing the effect of price changes, the sales volume index fell by 32.0% year-on-year.

Services of Sports Bureau added in One Account: individual online booking of sports facilities, enrollment of activities and application of SportEasy membership
To comply with the development of e-government, starting from 24 Nov 2022, Sports Bureau (ID) will add more services in Macao One Account, including individual online booking of sports facilities, enrollment of activities and application of SportEasy membership, providing more ways for the public to make reservation of public sports facilities and enroll fitness and recreational class of Sport for All. Together with the previously launched “online advanced booking of swimming ticket” and “online purchase of on-the-spot swimming ticket”, these new functions provide more convenience for residents to participate in sports and exercises.
