Seven bids submitted for gaming concessions public tender

The committee for the gaming concessions public tender, the body overseeing the process, has confirmed that a total of seven companies submitted their respective bids by 5.45pm today, a deadline that had been specified in Executive Order 136/2022.

34th Macao International Music Festival presents the “Song of Tomorrow”
The 34th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be held from 25 September to 29 October. Themed “Song of Tomorrow”, this edition of the MIMF will feature a number of programmes and outreach activities, gathering the melodies of joy, love and hope to create a kaleidoscopic spiritual world, inspiring the public to move forward with music and welcome a bright future.

UM, Peking University co-organise online exchange programme for students to learn history
Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) of the University of Macau (UM) recently organised a six-day online exchange programme for Yuan Pei College (YPC) of Peking University students. During the activity, ten students from Peking University visited CYTC through the internet. The theme of the programme is ‘A Journey through Macao’s history and culture’. Through the programme, students from CYTC and YPC gained an in-depth understanding of the history, culture, and customs of Macao, which helped them appreciate the east-meets-west cultural heritage of Macao and strengthen their sense of belonging to their home country.

Lisboeta Macau joins the ranks of optional medical observation hotels

To cater for the demand of individuals entering Macao, Lisboeta Macau will be enlisted as one of the optional medical observation hotels for individuals from the Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan region and foreign countries, starting from 15 September. The hotel starts tending to reservations by email from today (13 September). To ensure the accuracy of reservation information received, the hotel will not provide phone booking service. Rates vary according to medical observation hotels.

UM scholars make the list of NSFC Excellent Young Scientists Fund 4 years in a row with 11 scholars being awarded the fund
The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has announced the awardees of the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macao) for the year 2022. Dai Yunlu, associate professor in the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), and Hao Tianwei, assistant professor in UM’s Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), have been awarded the fund. Since the fund was first open for applications from young scholars at eight universities in Hong Kong and Macao in 2019, UM scholars have made the list every year and a total of 11 scholars have been awarded the fund, which is testament to the university’s achievement in research innovation and talent development.

IPIM Holds MICE Training to Help Practitioners Understand Big Data Analytics
To continuously promote the professional and market-oriented development of the MICE industry, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised an online MICE industry training session on 6 September, with the theme of “MICE Data Analytics - A New Model for Events”. The activity invited industry experts to share their experiences and insight so that participants can grasp the new trends of the MICE market across time zones and geographical boundaries. A total of 40 MICE industry professionals in the Mainland and Macao as well as faculty members and students from local tertiary institutions attended the online session.

New Version of Macao Cultural Heritage website officially launched
In order to adapt to the public’s Internet usage habits and provide more diversified and updated services to the public, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has upgraded and optimised the Macao Cultural Heritage website, enriching the content of cultural heritage information on the website and enhancing visitors’ browsing experience and respective website functions. The new version of the website will be officially launched on 16 September and all are welcome to visit. The old version of the Macao Cultural Heritage website will be suspended for maintenance and updating, between 14 and 15 September.
